Only 3 more days to go .. Im flying to Singapore tomorrow (In Thailand right now), staying at my grandmother's house and going into camp. I have never lived in Singapore either ... >.< Packing right now and already i feel homesick about leaving my family and friends in Thailand.

i have a thai friend that came back just for ns too. He was my platoon mate, but he enjoyed his time in bmt although he was homesick.

On thursday ill probably try to find some place to buy all the things listed in the BMT FAQ thread that I havent gotten yet ... washing powder, for one haha
Yes, I have been to singapore a couple of times before, but I have never stayed there for more then a week, Usually just 2-3 days with family. I have no idea how to use the transportaion system and I have the same knowledge of locations as a tourist.
Ill be staying with my grandmother in Singapore, we arent that close though and it doesnt replace any sort of family ... my mom and dad will be flying to singapore to send me into camp but after that, theyre gone.
Yes, i will be going to PTP because I didnt take the NAPFA i think.
I really dont want to go, and I am feeling really homesick. Ill be leaving family, all my friends, my girlfriend and basically my life in Thailand, but im hoping for the best =)
Time to go learn the Singaporean national anthem so i can sing it .... 12 hours until I board the plane to Singapore. -

Haha, my father is singaporean and my mother is Thai but also a singaporean PR.
My mother and I have never lived in Singapore, but my Dad has (Also went to NS) but after that he moved overseas because of his Job.
I was born in thailand, moved around different countries and finally finished highschool back in Thailand.
Now its time for NS in a country that really hasnt been my "home" apart from my passport saying so. -
wow I am spot on. So u holding dual citizenship or just Singapore citizen? If u confirm you have no interest in returning to Singapore, u shd have renouned ur Singapore citizenship beforehand. No point serving the National Serivce and return to Thailand after 2 years, right? My father wants me to attend NS, just incase I fall in love with singapore. I am holding only a Singaporean passport and citizenship, nothing else. My attitude right now is get over it .... and change citizenships so my son in the future doesnt have to do it haha, but you never know, maybe my attitude will change.
Im kinda looking forward to it, I guess it s a new stage of life but hopefully I can fit in with my "unusual circumstances" haha -

but u may get to meet some really nice ppl inside if u are lucky...

Some of my closest and most dependable friends are from NS, having to go through thick and thin together builds extremely strong bonds that withstand the passing of time. -
Just reached Singapore, now I'm unpacking at my grandmothers house.
Already missing Thailand and my girlfriend and only 2 more days until i go into camp. Ughhhh homesick -
the choice of doing NS is not wasted.
although at many times u may question why is this necessary, you will look back with fond memories on the experience.
in addition, a singapore citizenship is always useful, esp given the unstable thai political arena. you will also find having a singapore passport very useful. very few other nations' passport holders can claim entering US, Japan, China, HK, M'sia, Indonesia, Vietnam without a visa at all. -

Don't worry about NS..you will adapt very quickly I'm sure.
Take this time to immerse in the Singapore culture and who knows you may like it.Your superiors will be very understanding of your situation.Be sure to explain to your Platoon Commander after your enlistment.There will be an interview where you can voice out your problems to him.
Homesickness can be overcome with friends around.Be friendly in NS and make many new friends and you will not feel homesick.Have lived all around the world as well so I know the feeling. -
Oh and if you are looking for a place to buy things just goto the Beach Road Army Market.Just take a taxi and tell the uncle Beach Road Army Market.
Once u reach go up to the 3rd level I think(The level above the hawker centre)
They have everything there..tell the taxi driver u enlisting tml..he may even give u some advice and tell u stories lol..most taxi drivers love to tell their army stories and help army pple for some reason.]
Oh yah and don't buy from the first stall you see inside the Army Market..the malay auntie cheat money..go furthur inside the prices are better. -
Hey thank you guys so much for the support, Im feeling more and more homesick as time slowly crawls ... and Im not even in the army camp yet.
Im sure NS wont be that bad but I need to get adjusted to my new life, a lot of people have told me that 2 years will fly pass, but I knwo that 2 years is still a large amount of time.
I need something to look forward to, maybe even visiting thailand.
When would my first opportunity be? After BMT?
What exactly happens to me after BMT anyways? What do i do for the next 1 year and 9 months? -
