Firing GPMG
Have you ever wonder
Why so heavy...
Because we infantry
and we lan lan must carry must carry...!
The load will vary depending on where you go, but it will still be heavier than that. For the basic combat load on the LBV, add a 3 kg water bag and goretex at least. For field pack throw in PT Kit and Shoes, sand bags, candles, lighter etc etc and usually either 48 or 72 hr rations. + we don't usually just carry 1 contact rate. I think, all in all, the load should be about 8-10 kg heavier than what is stated-- Not including the body armour that they want to throw on nowOriginally posted by blitzonic:I found the following info online, from a "All-Terrain Personal Load Carrier" design competition by DSTA for Poly students back in 2001. Re-edited to fit the format here:-
Conventionally, military personnel are given a backpack to contain their combat/field/personal supplies. Military personnel wear/carry these backpacks by slinging-around-and-over their shoulders. Items contained within the pack include:-

Weapons
1. SAR-21 / 1 / 3.98 / 3.98
Ammo
2. Ammunition magazines / 6 / 0.46 / 2.76
3. Smoke grenade / 1 / 0.62 / 0.62
4. Fragmentation grenade / 2 / 0.18 / 0.36
Basic Combat Load
5. Includes 2 water bottles, bayonet, toggle rope, entrenching tool, camouflage and the weight of & webbing & belt of the Skeletal Battle Order / 10.16 / 10.16
SUB-TOTAL (Skeletal Battle Order) / 17.88
6. Combat Ration (24h) / 1 / 2.00 / 2.00
7. Standard Field Pack /1 / 7.19 / 7.19
SUB-TOTAL / 9.19
GRAND TOTAL (Full Battle Order) / 27.07
*The Full Battle Order would include the Skeletal Battle Order, Combat Ration & Field Pack.
*The Field Pack consists of a set of uniform, ground sheet, mess tin and toiletries.
*The existing standard backpack measures 300 mm (width) x 400mm (height) x 200 mm (thickness) and weighs 9.19 kg (when packed full).
