last sat i am forced to go back camp to do duty by my sgt. the fellow who was supposed to be on duty that day didnt turn up, and then the standby duty personnel could not be contacted, so my sgt arrow me to go back and do duty.... somemore he threaten to give me 3 extras if i didnt go back!

You should accept the 3 extras, so your Sergeant must charge the duty personnel who did not turn up, and the standby personnel who cannot be contacted. Doing 3 extras so that in future your plans don't get screwed up by these guys are definitely worthwhile.

If I were your Guard Comd, I'd go after the standby and not you. And I wouldn't use the threat of extras, but I'd ask you as a favor and take one duty off you for the next month.
Your GC is quite an ass, because that's no way to build proper people management skills. Are you in BMTC and is that sergeant in your coy/platoon or someone outside your team? -

Next month duty come out then slightly remind your sergeant that the previous month u serve 1 weekend for him. Some more you are not on standby.
Normally for me, the guy who absent from duty, i treat it as AWOL case.
The guy on stand-by cannot be contacted, i also treat as uncontactable. Then throw extra.
The guy who last min help me covered the duties get less duty for the months ahead

ok then what if the farker who is suppose to do the weekend duty is on MC? eg. the day before he went to the doctor to get 2 days MC?
then the standby for him suay suay happen to be also MC?

i hate this kind of thing whereby one absent himself and don't turn up for duty.
be it taking MCs or cannot be contacted. i give them the benefit of the doubt whether or not they are really sick which in most cases are not. come on, don't tell me so coincidence u fall sick on the day u are suppose to do duty.
it is selfish, can't they spare a thought for the poor guy who have to cover for u.
and most of the time those people who don't turn up never even get punished. at most get scolding or some extras, then even with extras also no use, they still refuses to turn up for the extras. -
guess nowadays ns people quite slack.
previously my camp, never turn up kana 3 extras, if uncontactable, u're given 15 minutes grace to call back, else 3 extras.
applicable to officers and warrant officers too. CO and S3 will personally charge you if required.
Got one time a 2WO, who was suppose to do DOO duty in camp on sun, sneaked out for personal stuff in the afternoon for a few hours. Kana 7 extras.
And a young 2LT, who was supposed to turn-out the guards at night but just turn-out for show, never do it properly, kana 5 extras.
Another young 2LT, kana 2 extra for not properly lacing up his combat boots.
A driver, failed to turn up with his safety rover on time for supporting IPPT (late abt 20min), kana 2 extra. The MT Spec on duty, kana 2 extra for not ensuring. The Safety Officer of the IPPT kana 2 extra for not going down to MT line to scream at the drivers. The Conducting Officer kana 2 extra for not getting the Safety Officer to go scream. The Supervising Officer kana 1 extra, for not supervising well, causing the IPPT to start 20 min late.
....... all because the stupid driver -
If you are on MC, you better have the good sense and integrity to contact the standby who took your place and do his duty.
