I read that BMT commanders gave only give punishment of twenty pushup. As for sentencing into DB, only OC has the right to sentence a recruit theOriginally posted by stevephua:you get days off automatically during festivals.. so no worries.. unless u get urself into the farking DB, den tt i'm not sure of.. ha..but chances of u as a recruit getting into DB is quite low, like 0.01%.. haaaa.. no joke.. juz deny it as "I don't know"... but dun do too much a stupid thingstt even kids noe tt this is wrong..
DB has recently been renamed to CC or correction center or something like that if i didn't remember wrongly. Regardless, its just the military equivalent of a jail. The amount of days spent in CC will depend on the offence and how high ranking is the officer who sents you there. Duration of over a month is not uncommon if its the CO or higher.Originally posted by p4rad0x:Yup I graduated from an international school here. One of my parents is here in Thailand(Shes thai) and my Dad is in another country working. What in the world is a DB? And do you happen to know how many days we get off for new years?
1 day since only 1st Jan is a public holiday. However since you are in tekong, they might let you bookout on sat instead of fri so you won't book in on monday and bookout again on mon night due to the holiday on tues. Such arrangement will be plan by the CO or OCs so you don't really have a choice.Originally posted by p4rad0x:Wow thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate the optimism and advice you've given me. I really hope I can fly back to Thailand and visit often, seeing as how Ill be in BMT during christmas, new years, and my birthday. How many days off will we get during new years? A day?
Im looking forward to the best experiences, but I hope I wont feel excluded if I have never lived in Singapore or know the customs at all.
You 2nd gen PR? or citizen? Are you overseas for most of your life? You should learn to sign the anthem.Originally posted by p4rad0x:Thanks for all the help guys, I guess the next time Ill be hopefully traveling will be in 3 months after my BMT =) I guess now I have to find a relative to visit me during visiting day or Ill feel left out =P
Less then 3 weeks before I will be in camp, I hope I dont break down and start crying at night on my first day in camp hahaha. Once again, thank you guys very much for your support and help, hopefully Ill be back here more often as I encounter more lingo, situations, and things I dont understand o_O.
btw, is the Singaporean national anthem in malay? I think I better learn how to sing it ...
There is no more visit day so you don't have to worry about being left out :pOriginally posted by p4rad0x:Thanks for all the help guys, I guess the next time Ill be hopefully traveling will be in 3 months after my BMT =) I guess now I have to find a relative to visit me during visiting day or Ill feel left out =P

Which is good actually because if your BMT company deducts less days of leave, you will have more for yourself later in the (same) work year. For my BMT batch that had 8 days of block leave, I had 4 leave and 4 off while others were clearing all 8 days of leave.Originally posted by dkcx:Regardless, you will not earn extra offs/leaves etc so the more offs you get during BMT, the shorter your block leave as block leave is simply the period where they return you all the days you have burnt due to weekends etc.
yeah, i agree with bryanx..Originally posted by bryanw:be careful of gays there who nvr declare. experienced it before.
