I myself has been eating plain whole grain bread+eggs+milk for breakfast everyday including weekends n in camp i bring my own bread+milk. for meals i feel cant be eaten i eat oatmeals n milk or bread n milk. i have been doing this for past 6 mths. i m not trying to show off how healthy i am or wadever u guys might think off, i just feel that its wrong to accuse us of being too soft..

Why serve us colored sugar water? Milk or soya milk would be so much better. Anytime, anyday.

when I was serving NSF we still have unit cooks for both muslim and non muslim. When we pull guard duty the unit cooks always have something special for guards. I know that the cooks always use army sock to filter coffee for the duty BOS and Officier. So i figure with SFI that is off limit.Originally posted by Eiizumi:No I dun think so.
But I think the current cooks might be sick of soldiers complains of this thing not nice, that thing not nice.. Well, you can't please everyone.
Maybe soldier should have some days of individual unit cooks who cooks plain food, not really not nice food (with the canteen closed) to make soldiers relised that sometimes, cookhouse food is better than individual unit cooks' food.
I had one in my training camp in Taiwan in 2005. Wah piang eh. For the first time, I prefer some lousy combat rations, than live rations cooked by reservist unit cooks.
From then on, I learn to appreciate cookhouse food done by SFI, or NTUC Foodfare.
Hey, if you are still in NSC, try to go SMM for lunch. Not sure if you could sneak out, but I'm sure you have your ways.Originally posted by Hellraiza:I really agree about the cordial part. I am really sick of it liao. phucking hell. Can't they like throw in soyabean or even gatorade once in a while.
And the cookhouse...honestly for $5.50, the taste can't even compare with a normal kopitiam $2 zhap chye perng lah. KNN.
And to all the old birds-yah yah the food sucked worse during your time we all know that. You all compare with us, we compare with new recruits, will never end lah.
hmmm it may taste bad but i think yr time the food has better nutrition .U said they provide half boil eggs? They gave lots of meat, vegetables, fish and fruits for lunch and dinner? And u can take as much as u can? How are they usuually cooked?Originally posted by FireAndHell:I dun noe about the current SAF food that many of you guys have tasted. But to me, it sounded pretty tasty and good, as compared to my time in the '70s.
Those times ...them cooks were NS enlistees.....who dun qualify for other vocations. They are mostly pai kias...... the one who toss numbers about when they dun like your asking why the food is so and so. And u noe wat....they do the cooking for us. Chief cook was a regular, Staff sargent or WOs.
You can find worms, sand, in the vegetables, small sand pebbles in them rice, rice have the persistant light yellowish tinge and it smells too, for not being washed properly or not washed at all. Fish have the rotten kinda smell and taste too!! They gave lots of meat, vegetables, fish and fruits for lunch and dinner. Them cooks just dump em onto your tray. Take extras no problem, but throw away...kena take extra guard duty or worse DB!! Duty BOS or COS always patrol at the rubbish point to catch anyone throwing food....only bones and unedible stuff can be thrown.....
Breakfast may be plain stale bread, yes stale, you can smell em..hahaha.... sometimes plain tastless bee hoon. And yes.....half boiled eggs!!!....I luv em...can take as many as you want...but have to finish what you take...no wasting of food! Coffee, tea? not too bad though
Night snack, mostly red bean, green bean soup....Man I like it ...it is so so thick with so many beans in it!!!!!
During my time, the above can be considered as food from heaven!
That said, dun noe why NSF guys these days still wanna complain about army food.
