Dreams, Signs & Omens : What does it Portent?

Omens or portents are signs encountered fortuitously that are believed to foretell the future. Their interpretation is a form of divination. These Signs usually occur in the form of Dreams.
Superstition tells us that you must never tell a dream before breakfast and never relate a Friday's dream if bad.
The proverb says: 'Friday's dream on Saturday told, is sure to come true before nine days old.'
For most people omens are considered as antiquated superstitions, yet a surprising number of people secretly believe in them.
Many of the dream dictionaries on the market today -and particularly those that deal with dreams about the future- rely on superstition and ignore the discoveries of psychology. The unconscious speaks to us in symbolism, metaphor and allegory so long list of dream meaning based only upon superstition are not particularly helpful when trying to unravel the real meaning of a dream. According to Aristotle, " the skilful interpreter of dreams is he who has the faculty of observing resemblances. " This is the ability you need to develop if you wish to understand the hidden meaning of your dreams or to know their prophetic value.
Omens and Superstitions can cater to the insecurities and weakness in human nature but could it be that there are factors that influence our lives that are not governed by the laws of causality?
The earliest records of omens and dreams come from the time of the Babylonian and Assyrian civilisations. The priests from these times would deduce omens from the appearance and actions of animals, birds, fish and reptiles. Signs were also observed from the condition of human or animal offspring or from the symptoms of sick men. Omens would be seen in the appearance of a man's shadow, from the images seen in a fire or smoke and the forms seen in the landscape.
Most of the superstitions about dreams we have today have very ancient credentials going back to the times when omens influenced people's lives. -

Omens can occur in daily life and during sleep and it is believed that to disobey an omen is to court trouble. However, there are no fixed laws as to the real truth of omens.
Anyone can believe or feel that trouble approaches if a bad omen is seen or dreamt about but any fulfilment of the omen whether its more by coincidence or fate... only the individual who experience it would know... And of course our attitude counts a lot too.

Let me start by sharing a post that i missed out previously which was brought to my attention recently by several LOA regulars & my moderator . was at my flat (i live on top floor) and somehow, when i looked out of my window, i saw a pool by the beach with a fairly large crowd swimming happily....
suddenly, a gigantic turtle swam into the pool/beach area and there were kids excited at the sight of it and started playing with it...but the kids were chided by some guards in white nearby for abusing the poor turtle by throwing sand onto it...
moments later, more turtles swam into the area and it was a weird sight...
the horror began when large waves starting coming in and eventually, it become a full force tsunami... i was on the 13th floor with my mum and dunno who else and witnessing all as it happened....
after the wave subsided, i looked to a window on my left and saw some corpses by the beach and was very saddened by it. also saw a reflection/shadow of a very elongated cross formed by some overlying pole that was lying in the water.

i usually have dramatic dreams so i don't think much of them. somehow, this is one of the few dreams that i remember vividly after i woke up.
and lo & behold, found out there was really a tsunami early in the morning.
anybody care to comment or have any dream interpretation for me? -

Your dream is very interesting. It may be partly due to the occurence of recent Tsunami, by coincidence you happen to tap in the frequency & energy, you felt the great sadness there that lead to this dream.
However, primarily i feel this dream is a sign for you to take note of yourself, your emotions, subconciously you always wanted something but in reality you never seems to be able to hold on to anything, you always feel there is alot of choices for you however none seems right for you & you are not listening to your inner voice, you are not accepting or receptive of anything that comes your way. To a point you feel very tired with everything, it seems that whatever choices you made seem to turn out be wrong in some ways in time to come, your mom is very concern about you, she is the one who is always there to support you in whatever you do. Let go of the past no matter how deep it is inside you before you can be truly happy & open your heart for anything good to come, if not you will always be going round in circles like a neverending cycle, feeling more lost, confused & dishearted with everything.

No worries, most people will not remember their dreams, when you just wake up there will still be fragments of it which you can recall so its best you have a Dream Journal by your bedside to jot down any important signs, message or scenario of your dreams immediately.
"Deja-Vu" is very common almost everyone will experience more or less of it through phases of their life as they are fragments or the scattered Memories from our past lives. Do not be alarmed, everything is fine unless Deva-Vu visions becomes a daily thing & start to affect your daily lives like difficulty to fall asleep or rest well then it can be dangerous.

If you mean you go to a place you never go before but has a feeling you know or been to the place. Whether you dreamt of it before or not that is "Deja-Vu".
If not its Precognition - The ability to sense, see, and /or hear things that may happen in the future. Usually combined with one of the other Psychic Gifts. Sometimes manifests in dreams that come true, visions, flashes, hunches, or just "knowing".

Dreams that occur hours before daybreak usually will come true especially if you remember the details of the dream vividly. They are signs given to you with messages from the other realms or your subconcious mind.

For centuries, sleep and dreams have been widely used in the magickal/spiritual practices of many cultures. Many feel that dreams reveal much to the dreamer and, sometimes, if one focuses their mind hard enough, one can change their life or, better yet, find their "direction" in life through their dreams.
Since even science hasn't been able to explain away all the mystery regarding sleep and dreams, old fears and ideas about our "nightly adventures" remain today. There are tons of stuff available on how to interpret your dreams, how to keep away nightmares, tell the future through dreams, etc. Sometimes there's so much "stuff" it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Hmm... actually when I really dream like this, usually come true.
I do have a linking of wat happens when I woke but i usually forget the moment I wak fully.
So I dun really bother to write somewhere knowing it ll happened somewat in future, could be days ltr, mths ltr or years ltr.
But when it comes, an awareness overcome den I remember...

i happened to have dreams related to death on 2 consecutive nights. I can't remember it much, but shall share with you guys what I could remember.
The first dream: I was at this theater-like place, unfamiliar faces around me, i can't remember what I was doing but there was one point I was running away from something or someone. Somehow I managed to escape from what I was running from, I found myself to be in this room, felt safe. Around 3-4 ppl were in that room. Suddenly, something exploded. Only myself and the other person in the room was hit. The weird thing was that, I saw my own body 'charred' and stiff in front of me. I looked around, the other ppl in that room don't seem to bother about what just happen. After that I woke up, rather strange dream.
The second dream: I was in this house. There was this lady, a stranger to me. We were making tea. I remember seeing 2 cups with teabag each and me helping out by pouring water etc etc.. It felt kinda nice, until we had a conversation and the lady said something like I was already 'dead'. I can't remember in detail. But I do remember sth about death. Don't remember much after I woke up though.
Weird dreams I had for 2 nights. (Friday and Yesterday night). -

Me had 2 nightmares in a night and twice after the nightmare, I woke up sweating, I heard this cat meow-ing very loudly (in the wee hours) ...
Was wondering, is that an omen or sign for me ?
Hope to have someone decipher it for me.

Dreams can be a very wonderous part of our lives. They are an extension of who we are and can carry messages from the divine. Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud described it as an extension of our consciousness and all over the world, dreams have been a way we can sort to improve our lives.
For your first dream, you dream of your death in a theatre. Do not fear as it does not mean death in a literal sense. Change is part and parcel of life and this dreams means you have changed and grown and thus your "death" is symbolic of casting out the bad and welcoming the new. This can also mean a new and foreign environment that you are not familiar with, thus the uneasiness, espically the scenario of being in the same room with 3 0r 4 people. it is proven scientifically too by studying the wavelength of different ppl
using this technology, they test it on cats where the scientist will wake the cat up when the cat is about to start dreaming for several days. Than ard a wk after, the cat died -
