The Eyes of Heaven ~ Cycles of the New Moon

The astrological year begins with the Spring Equinox, when the Sun moves into Aries. The Aries New Moon is the first new moon of this ‘year’ .
New Moons have been something our ancestors have always known about and which helped them keep track of the cycles of the year. Some moons are named by tribes to help them in their work with plants and animals. We are familiar with the name ‘Harvest Moon’. This is for the late fall full moon, which brings extra light at that time of the year, when farmers are working diligently to bring in the last output from their fields to prepare for the winter. Sun Bear, in his book “The Medicine Wheel Earth Astrology”, calls this time the Budding Trees Moon, with the animal symbol of the Red Hawk as the totem.
Every new moon, you have the opportunity to begin a new cycle in your life. As the sun moves through the different elements of the signs, each new moon will have a greater impact in one of these areas in your life: spiritual, physical, mental, or emotional. A few days before, it is the time for you to think of what youÂ’d like to manifest in your life over the next 28 days. Some of you probably do this process instinctually.
This New Moon is in Fire, which is a Spiritual moon. This is a time for all of us to inspire ourselves to our highest ideals, allowing our creativity to be released with energy. A time for holding faith and being enterprising are other strengths of a Fire Moon. Cautions are not to be too impulsive, rash, or assertive. You may say prayers, meditate or just be quiet and think of the things youÂ’d like to create for this month ahead.
