The miracle of Sight is often thought to be the most precious of the five senses. Early humans regarded eyes as the wondrous objects filled with Magick, and reverence for eyesight has been expressed since earliest ages.
An Ancient religious site excavated in Mesopotamia became known as the “Eye Temple” due to the thousands of votive figures found within it. These figures, which were made in about 3000 B.C.E, were dominated by large, mystical eyes. Another ancient belief that persons, spirits or even animals can inflict harm with a glance which is “Eye of Malice” or more commonly known as “Evil Eye”.
To keep Evil Spirits and Evil Eyes at bay, the Old Ones constructed & conjured various charms & amulets for placing or wear. Many of these Amulets & Charms bore resemblance to the Eye. The Eye is also a very prominent symbol in Free Masonry, Pagan, Esoteric Practice and Various Culture.

One of such Amulets and Charms till today is known as Ojo de Dios, or the plural, Ojos de Dios ( the Spanish *j* is silent, or a light *h* sound, so roughly pronounced *oh-ho's-day-DEE-ohs*), which is Spanish for Eye of God, or Eyes of God, are made by native peoples of Mexico and South America. Ojos de Dios (God's Eyes) come from many countries, but especially from the Mexican state of Nayarit where the Huicholes (the name means healer) make God's Eyes to serve as protection from evil.
