Episode 1: The Age of Magic Begins
When the three suns of Prysmos align, all technology on the planet stops working. Two main groups are formed: the kingdom of New Valarak under Leoric, and the domain of Darkstorm. The two sides begin looking for something to give them the edge. The wizard Merklynn appears to both sides, and tells them that the Age of Magic has begun again. Those who can successfully reach his shrine will be rewarded with magic powers. Leoric, Darkstorm, and many others attend to his quest, but only 14 manage are successful. Merklynn gives them what was promised. -

Visionaries, Knights of the Magical Light was originally an action figures toy line released by Hasbro Inc in 1986. Following the toy line came the comics and this animated TV show. Visionaries has some of the best animation ever seen, even better than some animated shows today. And it wasn't exclusively for a young audience; it also had an appeal to older groups. The show was cancelled due to the unprofitable toy line, so only 13 episodes were produced, leaving the fans craving for more.

Spectral Knights
Arzon: A courageous young knight, his comment (in the first episode) about "a cleverly diguised opportunity" typifies his approach to life. He rarely lets anything get him down, even the prospect of being captured by the Darkling Lords. His Totem is the Eagle and his Staff has the Power of Knowledge.
Cryotek: A strong knight from the far north of Prysmos, he is a man of few words and is quick to anger. However, he gets along with the others reasonably well and is particularly close to Galadria. His Totem is the Bear and his Staff has the Power of Strength.
Ectar: A former detective, he is currently one of Leoric's two right-hand men, the other being Feryl. He has a nose for trouble and is not the sort to take his suspicions lightly. His Totem is the Fox and, even though he does not own a Power Staff, he can pilot a magical vehicle called the Lancer Cycle.
Feryl: A young friend of Ectar and Leoric, he is fiercely loyal to the Spectral Knights' cause and can be very forthright in expressing his opinion of the Darkling Lords. For reasons never explained in the series, his senses are unusually acute. his Totem is the Wolf and, even though he does not own a Power Staff, he can pilot a magical vehicle called the Capture Chariot.
Galadria: An attractive young woman, she is the only female Spectral Knight and is a strong swimmer. She and Cryotek are close friends and there are hints throughout the series that their relationship goes somewhat further. Her Totem is the Dolphin and she owns neither a Power Staff nor a magical vehicle.
Leoric: A brave and noble knight, he serves as both the leader of the Spectral Knights and the governor of New Valarak. He has a strong sense of justice and never hesitates to intervene if others are in danger. His Totem is the Lion and his Staff has the Power of Wisdom.
Witterquick: An athletic knight, he is possibly the most serious member of the team. He has a strong sense of duty towards his fellows and feels they must come first at all times; his willingness (in one episode) to kill a dragon to use its claw in a healing spell illustrates this. His Totem is the Cheetah and his Staff has the Power of Speed. -
Darkling Lords
Cindarr: A slow-witted brute, what he lacks in brains he more than makes up for in brawn. Unusually for a Darkling Lord, he shows some concern for beings other than himself, a trait which often annoys Darkstorm and the others. His Totem is the Gorilla and his Staff has the Power of Destruction.
Cravex: An extremely short-tempered knight, he takes delight in the misfortunes of others. Those who cross him had better watch out as, under such circumstances, he is liable to lash out at everyone in sight. His Totem is the Phylot and his Staff has the Power of Fear.
Darkstorm: A textbook megalomaniac, he is the ruthless leader of the Darkling Lords and is constantly trying to depose Leoric. He has a knack for turning on the charm and has been known to use this trait to trick people into siding with him against the Spectral Knights. His Totem is the Mollusc and his Staff has the Power of Decay.
Lexor: A cowardly knight, he is fond of making snide remarks but lacks the courage to insult anyone directly. He tries to flatter Darkstorm, but he actually feels no loyalty to his leader and sometimes tries to stir his fellows into rebellion. His Totem is the Armadillo and his Staff has the Power of Invulnerability.
Mortdredd: A fawning sycophant, he always does Darkstorm's bidding and states his loyalty to his leader at every opportunity. As a result of this, he has often been derided as a "boot-licker". His Totem is the Beetle and, even though he does not own a Power Staff, he can pilot a magical vehicle called the Sky-Claw.
Reekon: A ruthless mercenary who cares for little else but money, he and Ectar have a vendetta dating back to the Age of Technology. Like Mortdredd, he is one of Darkstorm's chief lackeys, but he lacks the former's slavish devotion. His Totem is the Lizard and, even though he does not own a Power Staff, he can pilot a magical vehicle called the Dagger Assault.
Virulina: A sharp-tongued and vindictive young woman, she is the only female Darkling Lord and shares Galadria's skill in the water. She cares little for others - indeed, she once boasted that she "would never try to rescue" anyone. Her Totem is the Shark and she owns neither a Power Staff nor a magical vehicle. -
