  I am here too... On the tram making my way back to office. Went to the immigration office to collect my return visa. Waited nearly 2 hours on Friday but when I got there I was told something wrong with the software and couldn't issue the visa. At least I didn't have to queue today. The trip to there is long enough.....

  oh dear.. wasted trip.. u shld have made a call to make sure the visa is ready before heading down..

  Nah... it was not entirely wasted.  The officer still put in the application for me on Friday, just that he couldn't issue me the visa on the spot.  I had to go in today to pick it up.

  The visa is to allow me to come back into Australia next year.  It expired 2 years ago but I couldn't be bothered to renew it when it expired as I wasn't going overseas.  It cost me $240 for 5 years.....

  I am a PR but we still need a return visa to let us go in and out of Australia.  To be able to renew the return visa, we will have to be living in Australia for 2 years out of the last 5 years.

  We haven't had our overseas holiday in Jan yet and we are already planning for a road trip to the countryside in March during the Labour Day long weekend.

  Planning to go to Echuca, Mildura and the Grampians.  And one of the things we are going to do at the Grampians is horse-riding.  Oh well, we shall see how it all pans out.

  I have already planned my holidays next year....

  Taiwan in Feb (booked liao)

  US in Sep.

  And Bangkok or Hongkong when company sends me during the year haha.
