The day I had kangkong...and caterpillar - and diarrhoea later
STOMPer Perry and his friends came down with diarrhoea after eating a plate of kangkong from a stall in Bedok. One of them actually chewed on a black caterpillar, saying it tasted "weird and smelly".
In an email to STOMP this morning (Dec 2
, Perry said this happened yesterday at the "famous Bedok 85 market".
"We ordered kangkong and stingray from Wang Wang Mei Shi. We were happily eating when my friend suddenly spat out the kangkong he ate and said it tasted weird and smelly.
"We saw that there was something black in what he had spat out. Initially, we thought it was a cockroach egg.
"After scrutinising the pile of food that he spat out, we realise that it was part of a black caterpillar which was partially chewed by my friend.
"It was utterly disgusting. We informed the stall owner and asked for a refund but the lady who attended to us refused to do so," he said.
The STOMPer said all of them felt ill after that. "Coincidentally, we all had diarrhoea the next day," he said.
