  So damn sad. That had to occur right after I had to leave my wife.......

  Splicing is like a permanent knot.
  
  First you untwine the individual strands in the rope, and then you twist and tuck them into each other's strands down the rope, and the final result would be like in the picture.
  
  Once you splice a rope, the rope is spoilt.
