Plasma TVs Vs LCD TVs

  I am planning to buy a new TV...but am undecided between the 2...
  
  can anyone give some advise(s)?

  yes ah...for one thing i know LCD TVs are cheaper than Plasma TVs...
  
  but remember dun go for Projection TVs...

  LCD TV are not those thin thin types?

  A. Outward appearances are definitely deceiving when it comes to LCD and Plasma televisions. Although both types of televisions are flat and thin, they employ different technology in an attempt to deliver similar results.
  
  Plasma TV Overview
  
  Plasma television technology is based loosely on the fluorescent light bulb. The display itself consists of cells. Within each cell two glass panels are separated by a narrow gap in which neon-xenon gas is injected and sealed in plasma form during the manufacturing process. The gas is electrically charged at specific intervals when the Plasma set is in use. The charged gas then strikes red, green, and blue phosphors, thus creating a television image. Each group of red, green, and blue phosphors is called a pixel (picture element).
  
  Although Plasma television technology eliminate the need for the bulky picture tube and electron beam scanning of traditional televisions, because it still employs the burning of phosphors to generate an image, Plasma televisions still suffer from some of the drawbacks of traditional televisions, such as heat generation and screen-burn of static images.

  plasma for movies, lcd for general day to day tv viewing.

  Life-time:
  The rare gases used in plasma display panels have a life and will fade over use. Earlier plasma TV sets had a quoted half-lifetime of between 20,000hrs, following which the image brightness will fall to half its original value. However, the latest plasma displays can boost anything between 30,000 and 60,000 hours. On the other hand, LCD displays have a guaranteed lifetime of between 50,000hrs and 60,000 hours. This degradation in image brightness takes place gradually over time. Now, the average household in the US replaces their TV set every 7 years. Taking a conservative figure of 30,000 hours for either technology, this corresponds to well over 6hrs usage a day - every day - for over a period of 14 years! In other words, both plasma and LCD displays are extremely stable and reliable devices. This means that life-time should not be an issue with either display technology. At the same time, keep in mind that there is no way to re-generate the gases in a plasma display or to repair any ‘dead’ pixels in an LCD display – the only option in such circumstances will be to replace the display.
  
  Plasma's life span is only 20,000 hours...if i watch TV 12 hours a day...the TV can only last for 4.6 years...
  
  LCD's life span is 50,000 to 60,000. Assuming 55,000...that will be 12.5 years...
  
  i think LCD is more economical

  but if i use the TV for gaming as well...
  
  it will shorten the life span by about 1/3...so the LCD will last for abt 8 years...
  
  where as the plasma will only last for 3 years...

  I bought a plasma but that is coz we hardly watch TV and only watch DVDs

  but i also watch DVDs ...
  
  the time i spent on DVDs is more than that i spent on games...and the time i spend just watching TV program ( i dun just look at the TV itself ) is more than that i spend on watching DVDs..
  
  so shd i still get LCDs?

  I just got my 39" Hitachi LCD and its been a blast playing xbox 360's GOW pn it.
  
  Anyway, on plasma you can see reflections on it.
  This reason alone is enuff for me to drop plasma and go for LCD.
  
  You can check it out for yourself also...
