  xelat1 is right in a way.. the tobacco is placed on the top, heated by coals, then the smoke is channelled into the water at the base of the thing where it is cooled and filtered... the result is a cooled and very smooth smoke...

  why not? i've tried lots of other things... like our weekly threads i was trying to get some people to go try "bug cuisine".. edible bugs and stuff like that

  sometimes i oso smoke texas 5 menthol ice..... it's $3.60, but the mama shop here sells $3.50 still cheaper than menthol lights
