I've gotten the opinion of Tibs last time. Service 858 is a service with a purpose of getting passengers from Yishun to Airport in approx 30 mins and Woodlands in approx 1 hr. Extending service 858 will make a detour and thus extending travelling time, defeating the purpose of the service.Originally posted by SBS9818A:It would be a very short and unneccesary extension, IMO. Why not just divert Sv. 858 to pass through Sembawang instead?
So you prefer that this line not be build?Originally posted by off_service:I've gotten the opinion of Tibs last time. Again, if this line become reality, it will, again, snatch the business of buses. By then, bus companies will only be left with feeder services to operate.
Hmmm..this was somehow similar to part of the Rail MasterPlan revealed in the early 90's. It's a good idea actually. But a few years back, the Government announced plans to construct an LRT Line instead from Tampines to Changi Airport via Loyang.Originally posted by tranquilice:This is currently an imaginary MRT line, but may be possible reality in the future.
The line is called Sembawang - Changi Airport Line (also known as the NorthEast Coast Line as it runs very near to the coast). The line will pass by future Simpang town, existing Seletar Camp, Punggol town and Pasir Ris town.
The line is divided into 2 stages. Stage 1 between Punggol and Changi Airport will be bulid first.
The imaginary station names and locations of stage 1 are as follows:
1. Punggol station (Integrate with Punggol station on the NorthEast Line)
2. Halus station (At Lor Halus, will be build later than other stations, when the area around it is more developed)
3. Elias station (Along Pasir Ris Drive 1, near Pasir Ris West Plaza)
4. Pasir Ris station (Integrate with Pasir Ris station on the East-West Line)
5. Loyang station (At junction of Pasir Ris Drives 1 and 2)
6.Changi Airport station (Integrate with Changi Airport station on the East-West Line)
Yes.Originally posted by tranquilice:So you prefer that this line not be build?
Is the plan still on or has been dropped? A LRT line between Tampines and Loyang is fine but to the airport is not possible in my opinion, because this may be a long route to the airport without any stations along the way.Originally posted by Superbus:Hmmm..this was somehow similar to part of the Rail MasterPlan revealed in the early 90's. It has been made clear by the authorities that the MRT will be the backbone of the land transport in Singapore. Buses are just means of feeding traffic to these MRT lines.
Cheers and warm regards
I haven't heard the plans dropped or otherwise, so I should assume it's still in the planning stages.Originally posted by tranquilice:Is the plan still on or has been dropped?
