The photo looks faint because of some special effects? Yes, the bus stop is along Jln Toa Payoh (the one opposite the big canal with Express 506)Originally posted by SBS9816E:Looking at the third picture of the bus on Service 105, it seems that it's like a ghost bus. Cos' it looks faint! Urgh! That bus is SBS 2748 P, with the advertisement of Power 98. The bus stop which the photographer took his photo is Jalan Toa Payoh, if I am not wrong.
On the overall, the pics are well taken.
the photos are ghostly becos i purposely timed it such that when the shutter opens the bus is still but then it starts moving off, that's why u see the streaks of it's headlights and "dashes" of the indicator. so when the bus moves off... the background that it used to "block" is revealed shortly, all this while the shutter is open.Originally posted by tranquilice:The photo looks faint because of some special effects? Trying my best to understand.Originally posted by jOhO:the photos are ghostly becos i purposely timed it such that when the shutter opens the bus is still but then it starts moving off, that's why u see the streaks of it's headlights and "dashes" of the indicator. so when the bus moves off... the background that it used to "block" is revealed shortly, all this while the shutter is open.
Not helping?Originally posted by Parka:We have serious bus addicts here, and jOhO, you're not helping.

Nice one. Now I understand. Hmm, next time can play with my camera...Originally posted by jOhO:er..
shut up parka!
ok tranquil, imagine i have an 8 second open shutter. so ANY light that goes into the lens in that 8 seconds will be recorded on the film/ccd and will appear on the picture.
just a simple example. if i had an 8 second exposure and for the FIRST 4 seconds i pointed the cam at an apple. after that the apple instantly disappears and for the next 4 seconds an orange stood in the apple's place.
the resulting picture would be an orange superimposed on an apple. something like a double exposure except it's not a double, it's only one (long) exposure.
i wonder if this example helps.
ehhe if ur cam can control shutter settings then u can do it too. btw u'll definitely need a tripod, or at least some surface u can place ur cam on without moving.Originally posted by tranquilice:Nice one. Now I understand. Hmm, next time can play with my camera...
I don't have a tripod. I think I just make sure my hands don't move anyhow.Originally posted by jOhO:ehhe if ur cam can control shutter settings then u can do it too. btw u'll definitely need a tripod, or at least some surface u can place ur cam on without moving.

Clear picture? You mean it's difficult to get such clear picture? Your hands don't shake, can already.Originally posted by jOhO:for a few seconds??
if u can get a clear picture, please!!! teach me how!
yeah on such a long exposure, if i handheld the cam there's DEFINITELY gonna be shake blur.Originally posted by tranquilice:Clear picture? You mean it's difficult to get such clear picture? Your hands don't shake, can already.
Hmm, what about short exposure?Originally posted by jOhO:yeah on such a long exposure, if i handheld the cam there's DEFINITELY gonna be shake blur.
short exposure will be very dark and u won't be able to capture the movement.Originally posted by tranquilice:Hmm, what about short exposure?
I could only understand a bit.Originally posted by jOhO:short exposure will be very dark and u won't be able to capture the movement.
when u say short exposure i assume u mean the longest HANDHELD exposure... and for really steady hands, 1/60 would be the lowest i'd go, depending on zoom too. more zoom, less "steadiness"...
neh.. i got there by car. got my fren to drop me off opp the station for a while so i could get a quick pic.Originally posted by tranquilice:Thank for the photos of the Expo station. How did you got there? (If you got there by train, you could have taken the interior of the station right?)
