Clementi to get proper library at long last

Finally, Clementi folks will get a proper community library in 2010. This is part of the town centre upgrading that will also mean an end to getting wet while waiting for the bus at Clementi Interchange.
After years of looking on in envy at Jurong West, Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang residents get their very own libraries and pondering the absurdity of the reasoning that Jurong East Regional Library (previously a community library) is big enough to serve the West, there is finally some reason to smile if you are a resident of Clementi (like myself). The CLECL is long overdue. Some stupid government official shot down this proposal when it was floated more than 10 years ago.
Honestly, if Tampines Regional Library is large enough to cater to those in the East, why has the Bedok library not closed down and also why has another one opened in Paris Ris? The officials knew this and opened libraries all over the West except my beloved Clementi.
What's next? It is rumoured that Serangoon town centre is next on the list for a revamp (due to Circle Line and such). Will the residents over there be clamouring for a new library or are they content with those at Ang Mo Kio and Hougang? -
A library was not built in Clementi because of the insufficient space. Clementi town centre is so cramped that there isn't any space to build an additional facility, without demolition of other buildings.

But do they have to resort to make a bus int, TC Office, NLB and 388 dwelling units together? -
Dun think SGN might that near as it has less than 20,000 dwelling units, very small new town... Even smaller than Sengkang which developed only in late 90's. In SKG, there is a condo project co-located with the shopping mall and transport hub. I don't see why CLE can't have something similar.Originally posted by tranquilice:Why not?

Sembawang also has a library in Sun Plaza, if I'm not wrong. I think the new Clementi library could benefit Dover folks a lot. It is much nearer than Bukit Merah and there are 2 direct buses (to get to Queenstown, we need to change buses @ BNV). -

I think the new Clementi library could benefit Dover folks a lot. It is much nearer than Bukit Merah and there are 2 direct buses (to get to Queenstown, we need to change buses @ BNV).
