The extensive ban on smoking in public places

Saw the news? Smoking in outdoor sports facilities, toilets, bus stops/interchange, etc. will be prohibited from October. Must be bad news to the smokers.
Anyway it's good news to me.
I dislike second hand smokes.

Good ler, more ppl like myself got reason to quit, eventually if very less smokers in singapore they will raise GST to 10% then that time all will suffer together.

You seemed surprised? Don't be, I started smoking very early, I have seen the price of cigarette from $2.00 a pack to the present $11. All they did was to get a statistics of tobbaco price by country to justify their increase and say that cigarette prices still not the highest in the world.Originally posted by SGpork:10%

GST only 3% how high do you think they will raise it to? All they need to do to is just get the statistics by countries having GST or VAT and say that the increase is still the lowest in the world thereby justifying the increase.
As I mentioned before if there is no longer substantial revenue to collect they will increase elsewhere and most likely GST. I hope they will increase soon let non-smokers everywhere get a feel of the pinch.

to get extra tax revenue, there are plenty of alternatives -

Unless there's ppl clamping down and enforcing it, the law will just be a few sentences of words into a book of many words -
