EXTENSION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES ON
CHRISTMAS' EVE AND NEW YEAR'S EVE
SINGAPORE - Commuters can count on the MRT and LRT as well as selected SBS Transit and SMRT buses to be at their service beyond the usual operating hours on Christmas' Eve (Friday, 24 December 2004) and New Year's Eve (Friday, 31 December 2004).
With the extension of service operating hours, revellers can rely on public transport to get around on the eves of both holidays.
Transit Link Pte Ltd, on behalf of the public transport operators, is pleased to announce the following extended operating hours:
TRAIN SERVICES
SMRT Services
The last Northbound (to Jurong East Station) and Southbound (to Marina Bay Station) trains will leave Orchard Station at 1.00am (on 25 December 2004 and 1 January 2005). Departure times for the last Eastbound (to Pasir Ris Station) and Westbound trains (to Boon Lay Station) will be adjusted correspondingly to ensure that passengers can transfer to connecting trains at City Hall and Raffles Place Interchanges.
Train service to Expo and Changi Airport stations will not be extended. The last train timings are as follows:
¡ì Last train departing from Tanah Merah Station to Changi Airport Station: 11.50pm.
¡ì Last train departing from Changi Airport Station to Tanah Merah Station: 12.06am.
¡ì Last train departing from Expo Station to Tanah Merah Station: 12.11am.
There is no connection for the last Northbound train to an Eastbound or Westbound train at Jurong East Interchange.
Bukit Panjang LRT Services
The last Bukit Panjang LRT train will be extended to match the last SMRT train service at Choa Chu Kang on both Christmas and New Year's eves. Notices have been put up on the station notice boards to inform the passengers about the extended operating hours.
North East Line Services
Northbound: The last train will depart HarbourFront Station at 1.05am.
Southbound: The last train will depart Punggol Station at 12.52am.
Northbound towards Punggol Station and southbound towards HarbourFront Station: Both last trains will depart Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.15am.
Sengkang LRT Services
The last Sengkang LRT train will be extended to depart Sengkang Town Centre Station on the East Inner Loop at 1.45am.
BUS SERVICES
SBS Transit Special Services
On Christmas' Eve and New Year's Eve, SBS Transit will be operating12 Special Services, EW1, EW2, EW5, EW23, EW24, EW27, NE12, NE13, NE14, NE16, NE17 and NS16 to complement the last train arriving at the respective train stations. These Special Services will serve residents in the major housing estates from 12:45am onwards. Feeder fare applies and valid concession cards can be used. Below are the details of the Special Services.

SBS Transit Nite Owl Services
On Christmas' Eve and Christmas' Day (24 and 25 December 2004), as well as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (31 December 2004 and 1 January 2005), SBS Transit will be operating Nite Owl Services 16M, 89M, 162M, and 181M. The current Nite Owl Services 65M and 174M will continue to operate as usual - on Fridays, Saturdays and eve of Public Holidays.
Operating hours : 12 midnight - 4.00am (from city)
Frequency : 20 minutes
Fare : $2.50 (ez-link card) or $3.00 (cash)
Concessionary travel (includes concession cardholders with valid Bus Concession Pass) and transfer rebates are not applicable.
