Hi everyone.I would like to announce to everyone that the 1st local Scale Modeling Club has kick off it operations. There will be an Open House for public to visit and the members of Katoots are Invited to come over to the Open House event. Scale Modeling Club ( S.M.C ) is under the wing of PA and we're operating at Kampong Glam Community Club. S.M.C has been sent up for one main purpose. It to expose scale modeling as a Hobby to the public and to have a fixed workshop which is located in the heartland centre which members can easily access the workshop from all locations in Singapore. The Community Club can be reach via MRT or Buses. Membership is open for registration on that day with Discount Vouchers by M-Workshop.

S.M.C will like to announce that the club is officially taking over the Katoots Model Kit from Sty's Workshop as from today and many thanks for all the hardwork and effort Sty has put in all these years in supporting the local scale modeling communities. S.M.C will provide the event space , Halls, Theater that will hold all the upcomming Katoots Model Kit meet and the next Clash Of The Titans modeling Competition next year March. Now there is a solid 6 to 8 months to prepare for your solid, mod frenzy, resin conversion, Kit Bash and Mega Diorama set up and brace yourself for the clash of the Titans at the March Modeling Competition. The concurrent time slot for the SMC activities is only open for every Sunday as I'm still ironing out some issue with the people at the CC to re-allot timing for opening the club house for Saturday and there are chance that the club house will be open on weekdays too for those who are not able to come down on weekend or needed a place to work on their Competition project like this year end Bakuc/ Clash Of The Titan (COTT) competition coming soon. If we're able to boost our membership base then the club house will be open everyday due to member's usages daily. So do look forward to that and if you got friends who are interested to learn scale modeling or would want to continued building gundam do invite them to join youFor the next 2 weeks the upcoming beginner modeling workshop is a 2 days workshop for those to wanted to start building gundam and on how to use the tools to make and prepare the model kit for display. As it a beginner course. It will not feature any painting or airbrushing. The course is mainly design for people who wanted to learn the basic fundamental of building kits. As it an important skill set that needed to be learn in order to move ahead towards preparing the kit for painting an so fort. Hence it only 2 days. But it will include on how to do simple clean panel lines and finished the kit with a matt feel to make it a decent display piece at home.Below are the courses being schedule for the next 6 months release and I'm sure it will interested alot of you all as it contains lots of stuffs you can learn1: Beginner Modeling Workshop ( Upcomming and slots is only slated for 10 Pax. So far 5 have been taken so still left 5 more slot. Those interested in learning from the basic do sign up with the CC anytime before this Sunday to grab a slot )2: Basic Modeling Course ( 1/144, 1/100 NG kits, Lessons normally will spanned withing 4 weeks to 6 weeks )
This course is design for modelers who wanted to learn the basic of gunpla modeling. Course include Preparing the kit, Removal of seams/mold lines, Basic modding to facilitate painting, Masking of parts contain duo or more colors, Clean airbrushing techniques and paneling.3: Intermediate Modeling Course (1/100 MG kits Lessons normally will spanned withing 4 weeks to 7 weeks)
This course is design for modelers who have understand the use of the airbrushing and preparing the kit for painting. The highlight of this course is learning the skills set for carving of panel lines, Understanding the ideals of modding between Cosmetic VS Articulations Mods, learning how to use the airbrush to attain Pre-shading effects and water decaling treatments.4: Advance Modeling Course (1/100 MG kits, Lessons normally will spanned withing 4 weeks to 8 weeks )
This course is design for modelers who have understand on the set up uses for completing a
model kit as we will move onto modding understanding mindset. This course will mainly contain studying the designs on recent model kit designs and the UC designs. How to make a model kit looks like a conversion kit using extensive usage of materials available like epoxy putty, pla-plates and precision cutting to insert your imagination into reality. Pls do take note that this course is mainly consist of lots of hours in the workshop studying the materials provided by the workshop and hands on modification of the kits itself.5: Resin figures/ Mecha modeling course ( Lessons normally will spanned within 5 to 8 lesson)
It course is mainly design for resin kit builders and it will consist of pinning the resins parts, Usage of masking will be heavy on this as it will needs lots of mask painting.6:Resin conversion kit (Mecha Base) ( Lessons normally will spanned within 5 to 8 lesson)
This is design for modelers who wanted to learn how to built resin conversion kit on their current Gunpla kits.7: Keroro Gunso keropla workshop ( 2 days workshop)
This is one of the course on a lighter manner as it teached you how to built Keropla and it will be fill with fun for all ages8: SD Gundam ( 3 days workshop)
This course is mainly design for modelers who wanted to pick up building SD gundam. It will included filling of hollow parts in the kits itself and masked painting will be taught.So these are the courses that will be heading your way so do keep a look out or you could go down to the SMC workshop to reserve a slot for the course you desire. Pls look for Roen Lim as he is incharge of registration and place your name under the courses you like to learn so he will be able to inform you on the time and date once the course is just a month or 2 before starting. It going to be a long fruitful year for everyone here at HWZ as I have release these next 6 months course planning to the guys here only as the rest not from the HWZ will have to find out the course availability and different type of course thru our monthly via their own forums and websites. As I'm really very impress and I can feel the sincerity in all of you all guys who have supported SMC since she kicked off her operation yesterday So hope to see you all soon for those who have not come down yetfrm kain (katoots)
