  Asahi.com's English site has a pic and brief news blurb about the Gundam Tachi-Neputa mentioned back in March.
  
  
  A gigantic paper replica of robotic armor from Mobile Suit Gundam, a popular TV anime series, is completed Tuesday in Goshogawara, Aomori Prefecture. The 11-meter-tall, 1-ton paper doll will be put up on a float for the Tachi-Neputa festival to be held in the city from Saturday through Wednesday. The festival was revived in 1998 after it was stopped in the Taisho Era (1912-1926). Nine craftsmen and workers created the Gundam based on drawings and a plastic model. It will be shown at a Goshogawara tourism promotion facility until the festival opens. (NOBORU TOMURA/ The Asahi Shimbun)

  I heard that the festival is for the people to carry the laterns on their hands and balance it on difference parts of their body. How can carry a 1 ton latern I am quite intersted, lols...

  Gundam Tachi-Neputa update
