Oh my, it has been 11 years ago (July 94') when G-Gundam was first aired in Japan. Funny it seems, that I first got to know of the series not by watching it but instead, I was enamoured by the heroine of the series - Rain Mikamura. She was on the cover of Animage ( April '95). I'm not so much into the Gundam Universe although I'm familiar with the Mobile Suit series (Amuro Ray, Char Aznabble et al). The endless and needless wars, the suffering....
However, G-gundam quickly changed all that. the first series for tha Alternate Universe - FC Century. It's the story's theme that captivates me the most - of valour and honour, overcoming personal struggles, friendship and devotion and most of all, the power of LOVE. The concept is quiet a novelty, some called it to be "The Street Fighter Of Gundams", with so many different moves, the funny looking gundams, nationalities (Neo America,Neo France, etc). Every week, we get to see how Neo-Japan's fighter, Domon Kasshu (with Rain), hops to one location after the other, looking for a worthy adversary - before heading to Neo-Hong Kong for the 13th Gundam fight Tournament.
Along the way, he met with his future counterparts - Chibodee Crockett from Neo America, Sai Saichi from Neo China, Argo Gulskii from Neo Russia and George De Sand from Neo France. Ultimately, they form the new Shuffle Alliance after the original members perished in their bid to save them from DG (Devil Gundam)cells. Hence, the insignias on their wrists - Domon (King of Hearts), Chibodee (Queen of Spades), Sai (Club Ace) , George ( Jack diamond) and Argo (Black Joker).
That's it for now. I'll continue later. Zaician!
