Sorry boss, I can't make this a private forum and sgForums is the best option available to us. BTW those messages are from sgForums and they are actually adverts. I guess they need to make some money too so that they can still keep this a free service. Bear with it guys, at least its not as bad as pop-ups. The report for our last match is updated on our homepage. Future reports by havoline will be posted there too.
I will, as far as possible, update the site by the second day after our matches. If you still see the old pages by then, hit the refresh button on your browser to see the latest.
I am looking for more materials to jazz up our webpage and would appreciate any inputs from you guys.
Please disregard my calls for your personal info as I have all your infos already with the exception of Kelvin. As for the inclusion of your fav team in the players info, i decided against it as somehow my computer has a bug and whenever I type Man-ure and Arse-senal, it come out as Man-ure and Arse-senal See! Its happening again!!! My apologies

Bara, may I suggest that we put in the names of all the scorers and the number of goals that they scored rather than just top scorers? We can have different colour for the top few.
I think it's a good arrangement to encourage and motivate all the players in the team. -
If you mean replacing the Top Scorers list by a Scorers list, I have to disagree. What happens to those who has never scored? Defenders and obviously goalkeepers do not have as much chances to score as compared to strikers and midfielders. Those who are in better scoring positions should already be motivated by the chance to have his name featured on the homepage. All he has to do is to be in the top five scorers list.
Of course I would also like to display as much information on the site but that would only mean more updating work in the future. i hope you'll understand. -

The suggestion is not to marginalise those who did not score.
It's was never with that intention and I think my actions in managing the team have justified this fact so far. Players who scored have also "kena" from me before, those who did not score but played well have also receive special compliments.
Objective of the suggestion was to give due recognition and encouragement to those who did, even if they scored only 1 goal
. It's an extra pat on the back and not left forgotten. Kevin, Pat and Jem have scored despite playing in their defending roles and I felt that in such situations, for that additional effort, they deserved that extra mention even though they are not top scorers.
Just wanted to highlight that goal scoring is good but winning as a team is more important. Just hope that there will not be an over-emphasis on being the top scorers of the team, that's all.
In any case, it is a suggestion that is open to comments. Cheers. -
well, perhaps in the players list under each player's name we can add in the number of goals they've scored?
i do agree with robin in that players, even defensive ones, wld like their goals recorded...but bara may have a point about the hassle to update the records every week..
so bara, if it's too much trouble for you then i think we juz drop the idea lah...

I will most probably do a twenty games summary and the full scorers list will be included. i am still in the process of building up the site, so bear with me for the moment. -

Football is a game where you win only when you score. Therefore, its only right that we honour the top scorers. If you feel that other players should have the chance to be honoured, may I suggest having a player of the match award for each game. In that way, any player that has done exceptionally well will have a chance to receive his due recognition. -
i think let's juz keep the homepage short and sweet...as it is, bara has done a good job with it so far...
i feel that the man-of-the-match award thingy wld only be unnecessary additional work...in the first place it wld be somewhat difficult to choose a receipient each week without being biased towards certain players coz some players play longer than others
however, it wld be good if we can implement the no. of goals per player thingy which i suggested earlier on...bara, maybe u can update the player list once a month instead of weekly? lesser work for you... -
My comments:
a. Man-of-the-match Not a bad idea as it is definitely a fairer assessment of performance than goals scored, but difficult to implement. With everybody supposedly concentrating on the game, who to decide? It should be decided by neutrals anyway...
b. Top scorer list I personally feel that a top 5 list is sufficient as that's what it's supposed to be... a list of top scorers!!
c. Score chart Let's not confuse this with the above. We could have a seperate page to show the number of goals scored by each player. Question is... do we also include other stats (i.e. tackles, passes, assists) to ensure that other defensive players are not left out? I personally feel that a chart with only goals scored is not a balanced chart and is far from being fair, while if we were to include other stats, it would be too time-consuming... and we would have to change the website name to Opta.
d. Motivation With regards to the motivational factor in the game, I would like to state that I have only looked at goals as one of the benchmarks of my performance since I moved into the forward position. However, even if I scored a goal but didn't contribute otherwise, I still would not feel happy with my performance. If I am not playing upfront, my benchmarks would not include the goals I scored and would actually depend on the position I played in (e.g. crosses, tackles, assists, etc). I would be particularly worried if every player in the team actually viewed goals as recognition of their performance.
To sum up what I have written above, I basically feel that while it would be good to have a seperate page to include indicators of our players' performances, it would be too time-consuming for a social team like ours. So let's move on man.... -
Scoring goals has never been an indicator of performance in our team so no cause for concern. Like wat Khai said, let's juz keep it short and sweet. We will juz stick to wat we have.
Bara, no doubts about your effort and hard work in creating and maintaining the web site. Great job once and again. -
With regareds to the top scorers lists,i think Bara's idea of putting up only the top five is a motivational factor in itself for players who wanna be in that list.Quite redundant if everyone who have scored are placed in the list,anyways the fifth position is only four goals,so everyone has a chance to catch up really.So for the chart toppers,keep up the good work,and for the rest,lets try even harder and make your chances count!!!!!
The purpose of writing the match reports is not because i'm very free or "bo liao",but more importantly,its to give recognition and encouragement to the players who have performed well in the match.I try to remember the scorers and the players that assisted as well,in the hope that it will motivate everyone to give it their best in every match and their hard work wouldn't go unnoticed.Even defensive players who have stood out had been mentioned.
I might decide to include my man of the match in each report but then there are inherent problems because then it would just be my single judgement and as Russ said,some players play more than others. -
Hopefully, we can take a complete team pic sometime in July, when everybody comes back from their commitments... I'm sure it'll look good on the homepage...

Our Homepage is now listed on yahoo Singapore. Hopefully, we will have teams approaching us in the future through our homepage.
Robin, there are also several other teams that are listed. Perhaps you can look through them and see if there is an opportunity for us to play them.
