Firstly, i have to emphasize to you that going out to talk to people about Christ is absolutely nothing wrong. God commands us to do that because "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" in Romans 10:14.Originally posted by the Bear:Will you be one of those who will push people away because of your obnoxious behaviour?
The best evangelisation is done without going to people, without telling people with words.
By living a good life like what Jesus taught, will inevitably bring you the peace and joy everyone seeks. When people see you happy and at peace, they will want to know.. and that is when they will come to you... and to God.
Yeah, the secret to Walking the Talk is that you need to Talk first.Originally posted by M©+square:That's called
Walk the Talk, Don't only Talk the Walk.
wah kaoz...which church sia....i think your teacher anyhow say one lah...unless you fart so smelly then kill people then ya murder is a sin ahaahahha...Originally posted by De|usi0n:last time i actually attend sunday school..when i was young.....than there is there another boy who farted..and the teacher back than says that its a sin to fart....

But I do understand when someone tries to force it down. I do not do that. I share but I do not force it if someone do not want to listen.
Secondly, there is no such thing as best form of evangelism. In the bible, Jesus did all forms of evangelism. He did street evangelism (when He tok to the samaritan woman he met). He did mass evangelism (the beautitudes). He also did lifestyle evangelism as you have said. The crux is not to choose the best form of evangelism but to do evangelism, all forms of it. Like what Paul said in 1 Cor 9:22 "To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."
Thus, to reject evangelism in other forms and insisting on just using ur lifestyle as a form of evangelism is a direct contradiction of the life and teachings of Jesus.
And lastly, I do not think that all christians who share Christ on the street are obnoxious. Leave the judging to God. You do what God wants you to do.
Really??? Hmm.....not taken. *shrugs*Originally posted by gasband:Yeah, the secret to Walking the Talk is that you need to Talk first.

As I said, I understand ur frustration. I have such people in my church, in the ministry I am in. And while I am not shirking responsibility, I cant possibly talk to everyone who behaves like this. Even if I do, I cant possibly say I can change their mentality. But even there is such people, it should not stop us to go out and tell people about Christ.Originally posted by the Bear:I would like to ask you this then....
I'm Catholic.
I have been hassled by people I know who are Methodist, Lutheran, and more...
Evangelism to some of them is browbeating you down, condemning everything you believe in and then shoving theirs down your throat. I find them obnoxious. I did not say that God found them obnoxious. I will take responsibility for my own feelings, thank you, and let God judge me.
It is good to be filled with the spirit to go out and seek new converts... but think about the consequences of overzealousness.
You talk of the sermon on the mount. What were the beatitudes? Christ began not by condemning the wicked. He also taught that the meek will inherit all.
Christ also blessed the poor in spirit.. It is the opposite of that haughty, self-assertive and self-sufficient disposition which the world so much admires and praises... the very attitudes that the street-corner Bible-thumpers have when they browbeat into those who avoid them like a SARS sufferer.
It is good that you do not force your views on others. But just because you do not do so, does not mean that others will not... if you see them in your church, have a conversation with them... oppose their actions and see what you get. I got called "Satan's minion" by one of these overzealous people before.
Going out to talk about God to others is not wrong. But if they do not want to talk about it, let it be? I have good friends, who are good people, get seriously pissed off by those who will not stop. They see God and Satan in everything! A spoilt mobile phone, a dropped egg, anything!
I hope they have not been driven off. They asked about the Church and celebrated Christmas Mass with me.
hehe, if you do not talk first, then which talk are you walking?Originally posted by M©+square:Really??? Hmm.....not taken. *shrugs*![]()

I'm impressed that you even bother to reply.Originally posted by gasband:hehe, if you do not talk first, then which talk are you walking?
but its ok, the key is that we do not go to extremes. We do not ONLY talk and never WALK. But we cannot just WALK but never TALK. That is not what the bible taught. So just balance it up.
well i have posted in his thread liao.Originally posted by the Bear:gasband... have a look at the Rev fella who is irritating the heck out of everyone...
I guess you can see why these overzealous people are doing a disservice to the faith.
yeah i know what u meant, as i said, just balance it out. dun just do one thing and not the other.Originally posted by M©+square:I'm impressed that you even bother to reply.
*Obliged*, there's no need to explain. Actually, though i know what you're presenting, you can save preaching and quoting verses by praying for the sick, ministering to the weak, feeing the poor....and performing wonders.
I guess if I were to say otherwise, I would be labelled a fanatic or condemning? hehehe.Originally posted by audlenelee:a going-to-be christian once told me something...
"how is it that Christians would wanna c their non-Christians family members burn in hell after they die..."
are Christians taught that oni Christians go to heaven?
here's a joke on the expense of the Christians...
"A man died n went to heaven, at the gates, he met St Peter. St Peter brought him on a tour ard heaven, introducing him to the rooms, which stayed the different religions.
He brought him to the first room, full of Muslims, praying, then to another, Buddhists, also praying, next, the Catholics.
Before reaching the last door, St Peter asked him to tip toe and keep very quiet. After passing the last door, he asked St Peter who were in the room, why did they have to observe such silence.
St Peter told him, "They are the Christians. They thought they were the only ones in heaven."
i'm not criticising the fellow Christian pals. But, isn't it too extreme to think that oni believers in Christ goes to heaven and the rest to hell? Then y did the rest of us do good, penance? Afterall, we go to hell?
