SMRT BRAND INTEGRATION LAUNCH
Leveraging on SMRT's strong brand name, all companies under the SMRT Group will adopt the SMRT name, logo and corporate colours from 10 May 2004. With the alignment, the names of our business units will be changed as follows:
Singapore MRT Ltd
SMRT Trains Ltd
Singapore LRT Pte Ltd SMRT Light Rail Pte Ltd
TIBS Holdings Ltd SMRT Road Holdings Ltd
Trans-Island Bus Services Ltd SMRT Buses Ltd
TIBS Taxis Pte Ltd SMRT Taxis Pte Ltd
TIBS Motors Pte Ltd SMRT Automotive Services Pte Ltd
Now, our customers will be able to see us as one company that facilitates seamless travel. Prior to this, we introduced new staff uniforms as a visible manifestation of our 'oneness' in January this year. With our one look and identity, we also assure our customers of continued consistent service and quality anytime, all the time.
There will be minimal changes to the appearance of the trains. For instance, the SMRT logo will be applied on the front detrainment doors to enhance visibility of the SMRT brand name. In addition, the existing turquoise green strip on the SMRT Light Rail trains will be replaced with a red strip to reflect the SMRT corporate colours.
For buses, besides replacing existing logo with the SMRT logo, the yellow and orange strips on the buses will be replaced with a red strip. Taxis will retain the smart off-white colour with a change to adopt the SMRT logo.
All the livery changes are kept simple to ensure cost effectiveness.
In order not to cause inconvenience to our taxi hirers or disrupt bus operations, the complete livery change for taxis and buses will be phased over one and two years respectively.

WITHDRAWAL OF NIGHTRIDER SERVICES 1, 5 AND 7
FOR SUNDAYS - THURSDAYS
With effect from Sunday 23 May 2004, SMRT Buses will be withdrawing NightRider services 1, 5 and 7 from Sundays to Thursdays, in view of weak demand. However, these services will continue to operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and the eve of public holidays.
Schedules for all other NightRider services remain unchanged, that is, they will continue to operate on Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holidays.
NightRider Services (11.30pm to 4.30am the next morning)
NR1 Marina Centre to Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Yishun
NR2 Marina Centre to Sembawang via Woodlands
NR3 North Canal Road to Orchard and Choa Chu Kang
NR5 Marina Centre to Jurong West
NR6 Marina Centre to Sengkang
NR7 Marina Centre to Tampines and Pasir Ris
NR8 Marina Centre to Bukit Batok
The public can call the SMRT Information Centre at 1800-3368900 for more information. -

Bus 39 will stopped at the Jalan Kayu bus stops from 25th July 2004 onwards. Great news for me , I have a direct bus from my home to camp !! My consolation as bus 168 service always made me filled with anger with its waiting time and super crowded single deck buses at the wrong time.

39 calling at Jln Kayu not much ah, just adds a few minutes in travel time.

The link is primarily to boost the loads of 39 (still not as good as 969) by competing with 858 (Yishun - Jln Kayu) and establishing a new link between Pasir Ris & Jln Kayu.Originally posted by bus911:What's the point, already got 168-tampines/858-yishun

There is no point making 161 stopping there because already got alternatives (Sengkang - 86 / Woodlands - 16

Service 858 should skip Jln Kayu and instead let service 969 plys into Jln Kayu, to compete with service 168 to Tampines.
