That fast? Last night I was along AMK Ave 1 and NOTHING about Sv. 502, Sv. 501 or Sv. 512 were posted! NOTHING! Yes, there will be a THIRD rationalization after the Scheme B services.Originally posted by off_service:All the posters regarding the 2nd rationalization of bus routes along NEL had been put up.
Kinda sucky ain't it??

I am happy to see that service 147 is left out of phase 2, it is now an alternative to the NEL between near Dhoby Ghaut station and Serangoon station.
Yes, like what off service has mentioned, there will definately be a phase 3.
I think for the phase 3 rationalisation, it will involve services that duplicate a short stretch of the NEL.
Yes, that is possible. Sv. 158 is a candidate to move to Hougang to cover the sector from Serangoon Central to Hougang. Expect to see a change in fleets if that is done so. However, isn't there currently Sv. 166 from C'menti to New Bridge Rd?Originally posted by SBS9819Y:For all you know service 147 may be cut to New Bridge Rd in Phase 3 of the rationalisation exercise, then 158 may be extended to Hougang along 147's route to cover up the loss. With a mad PTC, anything goes.
The "World Class" means world class in anyhow change...Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, that is possible. I agree with the last statement. The PTC does things without any further thought with regards to the commuters and travelling public as a whole, they do what they like without further consultation on how it affects commuters. So much for a "World-class" public transportation system, indeed.
Yes... they are too fast in removing the services.Originally posted by spyder:i am totally shocked by the removal of 85, 97 and 111. live in hougang and now, no more buses for me to take direct to somerset or marina... damn sad... they are too fast in removing the services leh. somemore, its much more expensive to take NEL to those places... i think they should really keep at least 1 bus plying along the NEL route leh... what if one day the NEL breaks down... all take cab or they got enough bus to cater to the whole seng kang and hougang people??? damn pissed off by sbs... i think we are manipulated as usual again...
They always say they have contingency services for when the NEL breaks down but it will be a slipshod, disorganized affair. I believe they should retain ONE bus service, they can make the headways as long as they want, but it's some duplication that matters.Originally posted by spyder:i am totally shocked by the removal of 85, 97 and 111. live in hougang and now, no more buses for me to take direct to somerset or marina... damn sad... they are too fast in removing the services leh. somemore, its much more expensive to take NEL to those places... i think they should really keep at least 1 bus plying along the NEL route leh... what if one day the NEL breaks down... all take cab or they got enough bus to cater to the whole seng kang and hougang people??? damn pissed off by sbs... i think we are manipulated as usual again...

Yes, I agree. The onus is on the authorities to get down to the level of the common folk and seek their opinions, and not do things just to benefit a certain company. SBST and TIBS are linked via Temasek Holdings, so I'm unsuprised they fight with each other in "name" while they do things together behind our backs.Originally posted by the Bear:imagine everyone or at least a whole lot of people rejecting the NEL route.. that ONE bus service will be swamped...
they will not want that.. much better in the business sense (since they are the only ones providing Public Transport) to subtly force people to take the NEL...
again, they are behaving like a monopoly or cartel and no one is taking them to task for that... worse, it's done with the blessings of the authorities (who probably never have to take public transport because of their chauffeured cars)
In my opinion, service 147 will still be terminating at Clementi, this is the most direct route between Clementi Central and Chinatown, compared to services 166 or 197. Somemore service 147 only follows a small stretch of the East-West line. I think that service 147 route will stay as normal.Originally posted by SBS9819Y:For all you know service 147 may be cut to New Bridge Rd in Phase 3 of the rationalisation exercise, then 158 may be extended to Hougang along 147's route to cover up the loss. Regarding Sv. 103, it would technically be back to its roots, after all it went to Serangoon Gardens previously. Sv. 97 and Express 507 can be integrated, I believe they will do so eventually as the routes duplicate.Originally posted by tranquilice:In my opinion, service 147 will still be terminating at Clementi, this is the most direct route between Clementi Central and Chinatown, compared to services 166 or 197. If service 158 is extended, it will be longer to complete the whole journey to and fro Hougang, considering it as a loop service.
Service 100 may be extended to Hougang or Sengkang.
Service 97 (amended) and Express 507 can be integrated into one trunk service Boon Lay to Marina Centre.
Service 100 can be extended to Hougang or Sengkang, to provide a link to Aljunied Rd.
Service 103 can be shortened to Serangoon interchange.
Urgh!!! Extending Sv 158 to Hougang Sector? making my trip to Mountbatten Road abit more longer....Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, that is possible. Oh pls!!! PTC, pls don't do anymore withdrawal upon the 3 services!!! If PTC is there to make life of commuters worsen again, I don't think I don't want to live in Singapore in the future!Originally posted by tranquilice:The changes came too fast! At first, I thought the amendments will be announced sometime in late September.
The MRT has top priority over bus services. So, when there's duplication, bus services have to be sacrified.
Currently, there's still services 82, 103 and 147 duplicating most parts of the NEL, let hope that SBST and PTC will not do anything bad to the 3 services.
What i meant is that 147 may ply between Clementi and New Bridge Rd. After all the illogical PTC likes to "reduce duplication" with the NEL.Originally posted by tranquilice:In my opinion, service 147 will still be terminating at Clementi, this is the most direct route between Clementi Central and Chinatown, compared to services 166 or 197. According to Mr Tan Kheng Leong, owner of PH1705L - a 1992 MB OH1318 with Soon Chow body, the amendments/withdrawals for scheme B services will take place in December instead of the original scheduled date (which is supposed to be one or two weeks from now?). Also, there is only trip of one service 650 bus daily, and it ply from Potong Pasir to Marina South in the morning peak only. After all 650 duplicates 638 from Potong Pasir to Marina South. Hence, there is no need for service 650 in the evening peak.Originally posted by Zilchster:Following services will be withdrawn:
85, Express 501, 511 and 512
Route Amendments:
Sbs 81, 97, 111, Express 502 and Tibs 106
Scheme B services will be affected.
638 and 650 withdrawn
634 will be amended
Service 103 may not need superbuses as I predict that SBST may want to shortened it to Serangoon interchange or even withdraw it.Originally posted by xin1jun2:hello
regarding svc 103
once 81 is gone i forsee many ppl taking 103 instead. 103 will need supoerbuses soon
