Are you ready for your $2.50 minimum bus fare?
"over the last five years, improvements to public transport services have increased operating costs by 60 per cent new lines, buses and trains were added."
"These improvements to public transport services have increased operating costs by about 60 per cent."

Bus and train fares should not increase because of the zero car growth, economy slump and several factors. But the bus and train fares will increase by 2% between 2021 and 2025, depending on economy.
For example:
2021 - minimum bus fare is $0.77.
2022 - minimum bus fare is $0.79.
2023 - minimum bus fare is $0.81.
2024 - minimum bus fare is $0.83.
2025 - minimum bus fare is $0.85.

Hi mr sgbuses, it will increase. But don’t worry it will not be minimum $2.50 fare so please don’t frighten people la. At most 20-30 cents increase will be enough to cause an uproar.
Over 20 years, fares only increase marginally. So it will not triple up to reach minimum $2.50. You forget to include other statements that govt say that subsidies will go on and it will be at expenses of other items. Cheers. Thanks.
Hope the fare structure is adjust

As you can see, our bus fare is comparable to Hong Kong bus fare.
Meanwhile, the bus fare at London and New York is around S$2.74 to S$3.62 (S$3.18).
I believe the one in Hong Kong is subsidized by the government, whereas the one in London and New York is based on market rate.
If so, if our bus fare is based on market rate, our bus fare would have to increase from S$1.40 to S$3.18, which is around 127% increase.
According to LTA, our public transport fares currently account for 1.9% of lower income monthly expenditure.
Source: https://www.facebook.com/WeKeepYourWorldMoving/
If bus fares increase by 127%, this would increase the lower income expenditure on public transport to 4.3%, which, honestly, is still okay.
So, go ahead.
As long as ours is not the most expensive, I’m okay.
If you all want quality transport, this is the price that you have to pay.
所谓 “一分钱,一分货, just accept it la. There’s no such thing as free lunch. You have to pay it one way or another. So, just re-adjust your budget lor. Otherwise, ask the government to reduce the quality of bus services, tell them actually we don’t need so much. lol.
FYI, my monthly transport expenditure (around $60 every month) stands at around 10% of my NS allowance.
tbh, I’m struggling with my finances, but the expenditure is still lower than the concession pass ($85). Like, who the fuck would spend $85 on public transport every month if he only bookout on weekends?
anyway, I know how it feels.
if my monthly transport expenditure increase by 127% to 24%, for sure my budget would have to adjust, and one easy way is to reduce the savings amount.
which is why I say, adjust budget. Sigh.
otherwise, if I’m not able to adjust budget, next election vote them out.

Seems like the real and only difference BCM makes for Seletar YCK/AMK part is on the side of financial accounting only.
