SMRT lost Bukit Batok and part of Yishun. Hope they get something back or retain some of their existing contracts.
LTA farming out all the SMRT contracts first. Clementi and Bishan leave till really late. Wonder if they have hidden motives for that. 2023 got 5 contracts all up for bidding at the same time.
Maybe it’s because no space build bus depot, cuz Clementi and Bishan already very developed. Unless the Clementi is at Dover MRT area and the Bishan is at Upper Thomson.
Whereas other places the land more vacant, easier to identify location to build bus depot, so implement the BCM over there first.

The composition of bus packages can be found here.
Tampines North and Punggol North should be together with Tampines and Punggol respectively.
ie. Tampines package and Loyang package.

There's a vacant land next to Queens Close off Queensway,Should be able to build depot for Bukit Merah package.LTA can either built a depot at Upp Thomson or built one beside MRT depot at Bishan for AMK replacement or simply refurbished Bradell into a full bus depot.CDGE can move to AMK depot.

Punggol North should be under Loyang, but debatable to be under Sembawang-Yishun as Loyang got many interchanges to handle
Tampines North should be under Tampines, but debatable to be under Loyang also
Unless there's a new road linking Punggol to PSR directly or a new depot in Punggol to support Punggol North.Tampines North can also be under Loyang.

But Bulim, Loyang, Seletar and Bukit Merah contracts will be up for 2nd term. I am talking about current negotiated contracts that haven't run out. Bedok, Chua Chu Kang, Woodlands, Tampines and Jurong contracts all due to expire in 2023.

I agree. Ulu Pandan more suited for Clementi routes. Bukit Merah package will rack up the most dead running miles due to the distance from the depot to the main bus stations under its control. Wonder if ARBP will close soon or is it being used as a secondary facility, just like how TT in WA uses both North Fremantle and Shenton Park for the Claremont package.

Ayer Rajah can expand using the empty land beside the AYE..Potential for 500 capacity depot.
Causeway Link (and would I say SJE) would have had a roaring business for years if any operator other than SBS Transit won Bukit Merah.
The BCM (Transperth) model is winner-takes-all. Think of how GRCs work.
At least in Singapore, the packages are group in a way such that you still have options. In Perth, you will have no option for an alternative operator (except 950 and CircleRoute) other than to drive, taxi, or unless the train is nearby.
I would be more than happy if LTA decide TTS takes Bulim and Bedok while GAS takes Loyang and Clementi on long term basis with future Jurong Region line and Cross Island Line for TTS & GAS respectively.
SMRT maintain Bt Merah,Seletar and Serangoon-Eunos with Circle line,Northeast Line/SKG-PGL LRT and Thomson East Coast Line.
SBST takes Jurong West,CCK-BPJ,Woodlands,SBW-YIS,Bishan-TPY,Hougang-SKG and Tampines with NorthSouth,EastWest line,BPJ LRT & Downtown Line.
Woodland bus package involves Sv950 will confirm for SMRT, no need to tender... wayang and waste of time. Wayang big time by LTA and Spore gov
BCM is a joke. What's the point of introducing competition to improve efficiency and quality when at the end of the day, everything back to square.

funny no one say anything when LTA awarded bulim contract at 556million to TT, when SMRT bid at less than $500 million...
everyone seem to think that it is reasonable to pay foreign operators higher price to operate the bus contracts and foreign operator are better than local operators.

This is what I meant. And LTA paid SQ rate for that. Why would there be a custom-designed perfume, custom stickers for demonstrators and hours of custom EDS signs when the same operator will not do that back at their home country.

Most probably they thought the market in SG is very tough and need some pleasant customer experience but they also the one who first raised BC salary and other follow suit.

Lobbyists want SQ PPS 1st class service but only willing to pay 60 cents bus fare. That is just not possible.
Once the government is forced to subsidize costs of operation, fund BC salary raise and the extra features, GST increase and bus fare hike are inevitable.

The most Hornibrook did when they wrested Kalamunda from TT was to requisition the newly-registered Volvo B7RLEs with the new Optimus body kit from Volgren. No fancy shit at all. TP2324-2350 were the newest vehicles at the time of registration and all of them were allocated to Kalamunda depot.

Probably they're first timer here where SBST is already established eons ago
Actually lta should amend 96,282,284 and 285 to Bt Merah contract since Ulu Pandan depot is much nearer to Clementi than Bulim.
For exchange,TTS will get Boon Lay service 174,174e and 198 as tenant.944 can give back to TTS.

Hi mr lemon1974, at that point in time, since it is the first contract, everybody thought and hoped that a foreign operator will get it. When LTA really awarded bulim to tower transit, everybody is very happy and conveniently forget about the tender price. Why? Because the public does not want sbst and smrt to win it. Cheers. Thanks.
