CT8 will drop in demand as 851e offers a cheaper alternative.
Probably will layover at Kampong Bahru Ter.

New FFW 851e from Yishun to New Bridge Road
Calls at Yishun Ave 2, AMK Ave 6, Little India MRT, Bugis and Chinatown while utilising the CTE between AMK Blk 304 and Little India Stn
Might as well give SBST as the anchor operator in Yishun,Humiliating sia.
So this time using the Euro6 A95?

Not necessarily. Note that neither CT8 and 851e stop at the same bus stop other than in chinatown.
CT8 is more niche in ferrying pax frm amk directly into chinatown, while 851e source pax frm yishun, khatib, yck and amk to little india/chinatown/city area
Btw, how has the loadings on both CTs been so far? Still the same or lower?

CT8 can get fully seated even during Weekday Off-Peak Hours. Sometimes can get quite empty on CT8. CT8 on Weekends can go to standing passengers.

Wow impressed. Wonder if the freq could be tighter, or intro 1 DD? HAHA
How abt CT18?
By the way, if SMRT fails to get any BCM contract and the number of buses it operate falls below a certain number, it may no longer be eligible to bid for BCM contracts. Unless it reclaims its losses by building up its private bus business.
Not saying that LTA should reserve a numerical number of contracts for incumbent bus operators to survive. Just saying that an incumbent may lose its eligibility to even compete in the BCM if it loses too many bus routes, whether in BCM or in other countries where it may operate in.

Or SMRT can head overseas. Not much point trying to build a private bus empire here to make the numbers - SMRT School Bus Services??
They should still minimally be able to retain the CCK BCM contract though. Woodlands as well.

Don’t forget 2023 got 5 biddings,2021 got 3 biddings and I don’t think Temasek Holdings very easy to surrender

Even so, I think each operator shouldn't have more than 6 contracts at any given time. Precisely why it is fair to freeze SBST out of Hougang when the contract gets tendered out.

Pretty sure DTL has had some effects on CT18.

80e seems the most likely. Skip Geylang and Bugis portion and use PIE and CTE instead.

KPE-ECP seems more likely. Don't think 80e will skip Bugis as it's a major bus stop for 80, just like 12/e.
So we will see 7 to 8 DDs on 851e....
would rather LTA put more DDs on 851, and introduce SDs on 851e.....they can change to DD if the demand is there.. hopefully they have learn from the mistake they make from 12e...
I know that Tampines Court residents will all be moving out by 12 December, so is there a possible way for 292 to just skip Tampines Street 11 and go by Tampines Avenue 2?
Maybe it will be an imminent closure of Tampines Street 11 (from Block 125 to Block 138)?
We do not know what will the future development looks like. It will be a SERS flat for Tampines after all.

I agree. Temasek will not let SMRT Buses fail. Buses is the one that is making $$ now. The rest of the business units are not. Shouldn't be an issue for SMRT to retain the current 3 packages, as well as going on to win 1 or 2 more. Majority would still most likely fall within SBST control.

Actually buses is (or were) one of the loss-making units of SMRT. The only thing making money for SMRT is the trains.
Previously, only the buses unit was making money for TIBS. All the other units (taxis, motors, seven seas marina, leasing etc) were all depending on the buses unit to feed money to them.

Ohmagerd 851e is full day service....
851 will see drastic drop in ridership. Which isnt bad for commuters from Yishun and AMK. More direct. A totally much more viable alternative to NSL than 851 is for people going to CBD. Excellent move by SBST to provide competition to SMRT NSL. That is why I said it would have been a conflict of interest for SMRT to win Seletar.
857 will be slightly affected as well.... in direct competition with SMRT at the Little India / Bencoolen junction.
Now, we wait and hope for SBST to win Sembawang-Yishun. Then we will have 167e / 980e. With Yishun Ave 8 fully completed, 167e / 980e direct from Sembawang to go up CTE while bypassing Yishun will be possible.
LTA ordering 100 new 3-door buses.
