No PIS.. old doors..
In 2018..
Design is nice but still q a failure for a 2018 product

They included auto-ramp and partial USB ports. It seems like they wanted to match up with MAN.
In fact the new tender calls for PIDS, which is very much pushed by MAN. Kind of surprised Volvo did not include it.
Got a feeling there will be a 2axles version using the 280 or 320hp.HK will surely buy the 2 axles with AC.
LTA should buy 2 axles version for jurong and tuas service. like last time those old non air con DD

Singapore is notorious for more than two decades trying and failing to maintain LCD-based PIS/PIDS. I have yet to seen any system that has passed the test of time.
C751B, BPLRT, C751A, SMB138Y, you name it... Even SG4002G's two PIDS weren't functioning as intended during the last days of its trial.

There is no narrow places like HK that 3 axles DD can't ply brother, Unless LTA buy for svc like 63.

Exactly shows how backwards SG public transport is. Almost every other transit system is able to maintain some form of LCD based system. Of course there are established players like Japan and Seoul, but recently even Bangkok and KL are catching up, and so are the 2nd tier cities in China.
As for buses, it's simply laughable for SG to claim to want to model after HK, when LCD PIS has been launched as early as 2012 there, and here they can't even include it in a 2018 product.

Since SG is super-slow to adopt PIS/PIDS, people are now using Google Map and bus apps instead. With the rise of these personalised "DIY PIS", a LCD PIS may not even be necessary.

I think thats the whole point - mobile app more efficient, cheaper to operate and only requires maintenance at the server end.

It is ludicrous to force a solution upon people who may not have the luxury of choice.
Old folks? Those not tech-savvy? Battery running flat? Tourists?
Many more scenarios. To sideline the problem by removing choices under the illusion of "advancement" is a problem-solution mismatch and only goes to show the extreme lack of foresight and commitment the authority has in the system.

The Trapeze PIDS offered the most promising technical solution (because it is integrated into their existing system), but of all things the more (if not most) expensive customer-facing product was picked for the trial.
And the features weren't maximized either. Multi-language for the older folks, for instance.

It was a mistake to buy 3-axle buses through, but nevermind 3-axle buses should be made optional. 2-axle buses as a non-aircon, is still a norm but with openable windows for ventilation like London and Hong Kong MTR's trains.
Volvo should aim for higher torque instead of horsepower which is meaningless in Singapore.Just because its under CDGE and their ppl all pressing LTA to bought this?
Their B9TL after torque restrictions already struggled in few areas and now wity only 7700cc engine block?Who cares about the 350hp which is of course limited to 60kmh only? Its more suitable for intercity usage rather than city usage.
In future Volvo should aim for at least 1550nm of torque.
Options for SD:260/280/300hp with 1200/1300/1400nm
DD 2 axles:305/315hp with 1450/1550nm
DD 3 axles:325/335/345hp with 1650/1750/1850nm..

There is nothing wrong with the Volvo D8K engine in a city bus context. It is a perfectly suitable engine with more than enough nominal power and torque output, smooth and brisk power delivery under transient conditions, great fuel economy and low noise output. Peak power and torque only tells you part of the story so until you understand the physics behind this, please refrain from making generalisations. The 350 PS version of this engine is more than capable of powering a fully laden articulated bus in hilly topography with good driveability given appropriate axle gearing and engine/gearbox mapping. Speaking from personal experience.
Wakakaka
CDG is no longer the body assembler for Wright/Volvo under the new LTA tender, the price is too high.
The Hybrid will be MCV, and my guess if they win the latest tender, it will be either MCV or KL assembled Wright
...
Lol later B8L trial on Service 88
Not surprised. 88 clearly is the candidate
Hi,
I don't understand what does the sign '4261S' mean for SG4003D? Since it is already registered as SG4003D, so it shouldn't be the registration number.

4621S is a temporary licence plate when driving around by a technician. You can find 4621S on Saf vehicles that is not driven by NSF but STK worker
if B8L is to be trialled on Seletar package services, the possible candidates are 70/M, 130, 133. Due to the fact that these services passes through CBD
