If you have looked through tender specs for EDS/PIDS, it asks for both VDV 300 and VDV 301 compatibility. Funny thing is, VDV 301 is not even bought by LTA.
You know what's the biggest joke? VDV300 is an outdated protocol, instead of just bringing in VDV301, they'd rather spend money on both VDV300 and VDV301 just so that it works as an interim solution.
They could have just upgraded the backend to VDV301 and spec in new buses with VDV301 only. This way, you would'nt need to spend unnecessary tax payer's money on the old VDV300 on every single bus.
Next question for you guys, how many of you favour white EDS?
It's like buying a Mac to run a Windows program. Then having to buy Parallels to install Windows. When there is already a working Mac program for the same thing.
White LED EDS will eventually be the default. It's already the case in Perth.

Notice why LTA has done away with the stanchion pole at the wheelchair bay and implemented some foldable rail? This is to cater for visually impaired.
LTA is focusing on the minorities, pissing off majorities. The new buses are fucked up weird, with out of the world concepts.
Touch your hearts and ask yourselves, during peak hours when you are rushing and everywhere is crowded, how many of you are pissed with PIW.
And we still have'nt see the baby pram restrainer yet, lets see how weird our public buses become.
Transperth managed to do that properly. They have two PIW spaces and foldable seats for 3 on each side.
And Transperth has that on their OC500LE demonstrator which visited Singapore 10 years ago!

You may have a point there, though this might seem insensitive to the disabled community in Sg. IMO the crux of the matter is how LTA's bid to be more 'inclusive' has inevitably become a zero-sum game for everyone and not so much because of the 'weird' concepts. Still though, it's hard to completely blame LTA for this particularly as it has to deal with conflicting interests among different groups of communters and the end result of trying to please everyone turns out disastrous.

And that foldable rail has the potential to cause nasty injuries.
They haven't even considered at least putting a cheap cover/padding at the area where the sliding mechanism is?

The problem is not with the 2 wheelchair bays, it is quite common in Europe.
The problem is the design of the 2 wheelchair bays, due to the limitations of ridiculous sg laws (RTA).
From the picture you posted, it has already failed RTA, no side support, more than 1 foldable seats, the space looks smaller than stipulated.

If you cover, how to make it slide?

That is to comply with ADR (Australian law). They have ridiculous rules too, such as the 2.5m width requirement, but their PIW space specification was spot on.
It is possible to cover the exposed bolts and still allow the sliding mechanism to function. An emergency brake and fall onto to sharp edges of the foldable rail may cause someone to require stitches!
So LTA order 100 each for MAN A22 & A95?
Took SG5924P today on 851e. Some observations and thoughts:
-The 'number plate' is not mounted in the front of the upper deck.
-Seems like some features of the PDIS is locked. Should have the capability of showing the next stop with the 'Bus Stopping' message shown when somebody presses the bell. SBST should start to fully utilise the PDIS, which could be some kind of 'trial' before they start to use these bus models in other services as well in the near future.
-Some brown staining was seen on the metal bar at the front of the upper deck. Apparently, the material of the metal bar is different from that of Euro V version.
How many of this Euro VI version of MAN A95 is LTA getting?

If MAN/STK wins the DD tender, which seems certain, procurements all the way up to at least 2025.
It seems like Gemilang has a new DD variant for every 50-100 units produced.
I heard 4 DD going SMRT tomorrow

Great. Wish some can go for Seletar tender too.
Seems the E6 A95s are no longer running on 851e. Replaced by Batch 4 Wrights.
Also, one E6 A22 was spotted on 851.
