Not suprised if MAN wins

There's no MAN electric bus in their portfolio . But MAN do have electric trucks but those are still in development stage and trials stage . For MAN electric bus - there's 1 but it's still a concept phrase , called the MAN E-MOBILITY BUS , which is a 18m long bendy . MAN currently has no plans to move to rigid 12m single deck bus yet .

China?
Manufacturers bidding for the electric bus contract:
1. BYD
2. Granton (under Zhuhai Granton and Zhuhai Guantong)
3. Zhongtong
4. Yutong
5. Tron Energy (Taiwanese)
6. Salvador Caetano (Portugal)
7. Volvo
8. STK (MAN or an alternative manufacturer)
9. C&C (Mercedes-Benz)
China disappointed us with their “futuristic bus previously, which turned out to be a joke. Plus the many fire incidents that happen with their electric buses. I seriously don’t think China manufactures can be trusted with the electric bus contract, unless they are certified by western organizations like the ISO (International Organization of Standards), or won prizes / awards to prove their worth.
Personally, I would prefer Japan manufacturers. Maybe it’s just Asian stereotype. But their brands have really prove to be better than other countries’ brands. Eg. Toyota (Japan) versus Proton (Malaysia).
Does the list have Japan companies? Unfortunately no. Sigh.
But STK not bad also... support local company. :)
Otherwise Taiwan also can consider. Taiwan take a lot of reference from Japan, as they support 日本进 (Japan imported) products a lot. So to some extent, Taiwan products are about the same standard as Japan products.

Nowadays even trusted brand like Toyota also got QC problem. My auntie 6 months Vios breakdown at JB and had to tow back to SG because of ECU and timing chain problem...She had to take public transport for a week for now.Luckily engine still under warranty.
My wife Proton Exora 1.6 light turbo still reliable after 5 years..Already clocked 55k even though i always pillon her on my motorcycle.
