  Compassvale Bus Interchange will open on 12 March 2017 (Sunday).

  The Land Transport Authority of Singapore revealed this today while announcing the introduction of new bus service 374, which will be launched on that day.

  

  374 will "connect Sengkang West to Sengkang Town Centre / Bus Interchange / MRT." It "will also enhance the connectivity to key amenities such as Sengkang Sports Complex, Compass One shopping mall and the future Sengkang General Hospital."

  "Apart from Service 374, the new bus interchange will also cater for future bus routes which will be introduced in tandem with the developments in Sengkang."

  Meanwhile, it added that "Services operating from the existing Sengkang Bus Interchange will not be affected."

  Comment: All these just for one feeder route. Wow. They could have just upgraded 163M into a separate route from 163, or re-route an existing route in that area.

  Honestly, am I the only one who feels that this Compassvale bus interchange was created by accident, and that 374 is just to make it look like there was really a plan?

  I have a feeling that Compassvale Interchange would close next time, when some trunk routes at Sengkang Interchange relocate to the future Buangkok Interchange.

  Hi mr gekpohboy, this will be permanent as compassvale interchange is to cater for the ever increasing Sengkang BTO flats built on fernvale and anchorvale area because the small Sengkang bus interchange cannot cope. Take note compassvale interchange can only have 4-5 new services. Sengkang interchange only has 16 parking lots. 

  The future buangkok interchange will cater for even more flats coming up at hougang and Sengkang area. Cheers. Thanks.

  For your information, "Buangkok" is in Sengkang planning area. I have never seen a planning area have more than one bus interchange before (except Tampines which now has Tampines Concourse). It's unlikely that the government will let a planning area have three bus interchanges at the same time (expect Tampines Concourse to be short-lived too). As in, there are only so many people in a planning area; don't need so many bus routes, right?

  that is what lta  email back to me  and  said that only  one  serving  the  rest of the bus service  will be April

  No, Buangkok straddles Hougang and Sengkang (and IMH is in this subzone). It is officially known as Trafalgar subzone.

  374 is only going to cannibalise the already under-utilised 102.

  156 may be amended to Compassvale Int soon, and possibly shortened to Buangkok Int in the future.

  The area around Buangkok MRT has very poor connections to the rest of Sengkang. 102 is the only bus service covering Anchorvale/Fernvale that stops there, but it doesn't cover everything.

  There is no direct link from Buangkok MRT bus stops to any part of Rivervale, other than the flats along Punggol Rd near TPE, served by 27. Pax have to walk all the way to Punggol Rd on the other side to take 119.

  Sorry. Those were just predictions.

  Another prediction: 374 may be extended to Buangkok Int in the future to allow easier access from Buangkok MRT to Anchorvale/Fernvale.
