" Boarding one of our bus services?
You might be in for a new ride as the electric bus goes into service from early November! The electric bus will be on trial for a total of six months and it’s the first time that such a technology is being applied in Singapore!
“We are honoured to work with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), S Dreams and BYD on this trial. Go-Ahead is the largest and most experienced e-bus operator in London. The lessons we have learned in the UK will prove invaluable. This six-month evaluation will test the bus in Singapore’s warm and humid climate,” shares Mr David Cutts, Deputy Chairman of Go-Ahead Singapore on trialling of the electric bus.
Excited much? Because we are really excited for this electrifying journey! We look forward to seeing you on-board! ;)
Pssst, we know you are looking out for the service number. We will first start the trial on Service 17 before rotating it onto other services, so watch this space! #dontsaywenevershare

Service 17 will be the 1st service this bbsep goes on trial on .
Service 17 served between Bedok and Pasir Ris
Shiok... Finally something to look forward to in GCM in SBST-territory in the east...
Always SMRT side and svcs like 185 getting the newer experiences...

Sorry to disappoint, but as far as I know, so far no special bus made it pass testing stage. The only exception I know is Volvo B10BLE.

Agreed

The Citaro 136C? The A22? A24? A95? All were demos which led to production batches that were sold in larger quantities than your example of B10BLE.
And you have 9888 which led to 50 production batch VSOs.
If you want to go further back, the Leyland Olympian demo which led to 200 2 axle Leyland Olympians, 200 3 Axle Leyland Olympians, 100 2 Axle Volvo Olympians, 471 3 Axle Volvo Olympians.
Merc OF1417, Volvo B57s also had demos which led to the purchase of a large production batch.

I think he meant those electric/hybrid buses like Zhongtong,Yutong,Sunlong and the B5RLE
the BYD in Hong Kong has good performance. the main downside is how long it can run in a day, especially with airconditioning turned on.

Not rly...
It breaks down fortnightly on average...
Full electric buses cannot do full day operation without having to charge in between..in our climate at least.
Unfortunately BYD isn't making the most out of its chance. This could have been a three door low floor electric bus using a newer version of its technology, which would give any other SD concept bus a run for its money. This could be done with the co-operation of ADL or Gemilang.
If BYD blows this chance as the hybrid ones did, there may be no future for electric buses in Singapore even if newer technologies prove otherwise.

Electric vehicles are environmentally friendly, energy efficient, quiet, smooth, have stronger acceleration and require less maintenance. :)

Require less maintenance?Powerfull acceleration under LTA?You should try to become a BC with SBST,TT or GA please
However, electric vehicles have short driving range, need long charge time, use costly, heavy and bulky battery, and have high initial cost.

Well, happen to take a module about electric vehicles this semester. Just copying from lecture notes. :)
Electric vehicle got six types: Battery, Hybrid, Fuel Cell, Solar, Supply lines, and those using alternative storage. This is Battery type.
Actually, I thought we already have electric buses? Bendy buses got "battery box". They are battery-operated (electric), right?

Most electric vehicles can only go 100-200 miles in a single charge, unlike gasoline vehicles (over 300 miles); Not all routes are suitable.

Hahahahaha good one
Actually MAN truck and buses has a electric only bus not hybrid fully electric , called the MAN eBus. it's a bendy bus still in its concept days but it actually worked and MAN showed it to many people during German IAA 2016 . It features fast charging via roof charging or plug charging . And it look like A24 with hair .
Go check it yourself - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SFUfQmeuE9w
OR
Volvo electric bus . Still testing in Sweden as of 2016 .
But if major bus manufacturer such as MAN & Volvo introduce Fully electric buses , I think this will surely catch the LTA attention .

this bus build in 2013.....so it also undergo trial elsewhere before coming to SG?
