SBS3379P is (Voith or ZF) Wright B9TL?

ZF is indeed inferior in climbing...
Thats why VSOs are rarely used on mountain routes in HK, usually trident...

Can.. But it depends on whether the BC knows how to kickdown the B9..
0.1% chance..

The 10xx Voiths are Euro 2s, the VINs start with WEB612323 instead of the WEB357211 used by all ZF O.405Gs that are in the range of 1147 and below. The ZF O.405Gs in the range of 1148 and above also have VINs that start with WEB612323.
Usually the trend is buses with Voith accelerate slower than ZF equipped ones. But the Voiths have less gear changes so costs are lower. To differentiate between a Voith and a ZF, the most obvious is that Voiths have a whistling sound when braking and older models (especially Tridents, sb220s, o405gs, and b10tls) have a high pitched whining like sound everywhere. Another way is Voiths shift less and the engine revs up slower. This can be helpful for Wright and Gemliang b9tls as the voith whistle is less obvious. The third way is to READ UP ON THE PARTICULAR BUS AND CHECK WHICH ONES ARE ZF AND WHICH ONES ARE VOITH! ! !
One thing a lot of people get mistaken is when it's a Voith, the bus is slow. It's true that voith equipped buses accelerate slower because of less gears. But actually it all matters to the engine output and Bus weight. Example - I was in a K UB and a NL323F Voith just overtook the K UB although it was at 1900rpm. The K UB is obviously ZF as SBS ordered all of them with ZFs and the NL323F was SG plated so it was a Voith for sure. The K UB only has 230 bhp and 1050Nm whereas the NL323F has 320bhp and 1600Nm. Obviously it will smoke the K UB
OC with 299 hp can accelerate faster than voith MAN on flat road..Originally posted by smb91y:Usually the trend is buses with Voith accelerate slower than ZF equipped ones. Also depends on how the BC drives. If your OC BC😂 (OCBC! ! ! ) was rushing and the MAN was not getting driven fast, obviously the OC will overtake. Not saying the OC is slow, it's real fast, but it all matters to how to BC drives.
All buses come to Singapore eventually will become slower due to LTA restriction..Although SMRT has the edge over the 3 operators..There is a few that can speed well too.

Try a Voith A22 and ZF A22 on ECP slope..Voith powerband usually come from 2nd gear where the pushing feel is while ZF use lower rpm from 1,2,3..Figure that out.Depend on the tuning and BCs too.

Slope of course voith better la.. less speed loss from gear change

Actually possible to kickdown B9? just curious..

I think it might be possible if BC hold gear while going up slope. not too sure though

It is possible.
