Difference between ZF and Voith Kickdown

  *do feel free to discuss about kickdowns in general*

   

  Hey guys, had been wondering about the kickdowns on the O405Gs

  For ZF, when the bus kickdowns, it makes a musical howl but what about voith, how does the engine sound like when kickdown? Does the engine sound louder or...

  Old Voiths generally have a distinct scream/whistle or whatever you would call throughout the gears. Since all Voiths have only 4-gears, the engine has to work harder to get to the same speed as the 5-gear ZFs in the same time, needing the engine to get to a higher RPM thus making the engine sound louder.   If the company buying buses from Scania, the Scania buses only can use ZF Ecolife, because the Voith doesn't offer for Scania.

  O405G doesnt have any problem using Voith because of their higher capacity engine cc..

  The voith will drag for about 5 seconds..

  ZF for WAB buses are 6-speed of gear & for Non-WAB buses are 4-speed of gear.

  Voith for WAB buses are 4-speed of gear & for Non-WAB buses are 3-speed of gear

  i notice the voth from tib1148-1208 is different from the voith from 1025-1061 and 1209-1247

  Last time 1 SBST Scania KUB stuck in the middle of the ECP slope while doing 36 because SBST restrict the bus gearing too much..Citaros got no problem climbing although the engine scream but there is always an oil cooler for Voith.Not saying ZF can't climb anyway
