136 weekday peak hours need 3 DDs not 1-2.Weekends can deployed 4 DDs to compensate the famous Serangoon Gdns jams.S3 need 6 DDs during peak hours.Even though frequencies has become improved but i stil see many SDs.

45...
Used to full fleet SDs and sarcastically highly reliable freq (a steady 17-20 mins all day)...
I would've thought it is a seasonal svc since it operates so little trips and has the freq of chinatown express...
35 also but lagi longer...
Now both behave more like proper trunks...
this thread still ok la, not causing probs unlike those created by ppl living in their own worldOriginally posted by hgdep103:go suck cow tities
Bus services have improved remarkably.
2-40
4 (launched with BSEP with full fleet SD, now has 2 DDs) - 12 - 15 - 19 - 20 (was launched full fleet SD and now has 60% DDs) - 22 - 23 - 34 - 35 (was full fleet SD with horrible frequency, now majority DD fleet) - 39 (many fleet adds, and much later 4SD->DD. Actually if was DD friendly, would have not needed those fleet adds, just upgrade would have done the job

Wonder why svc like 160 no upgrade? Same for 107, 153, 156, 158, 178 and 852 no change?
107 has a short high loading sector between Lavendar MRT and Geylang Bahru. With DTL3 coming, even that will go off. But currently, each bus during peak hours in this area will have high loading
153 is doing well with current fleet - no change needed
156 even SDs run at low capacity
158 provides unique connections, hence is important but loading hovers around 30-50 pax. 158 did get a fleet add from BSEP.
178 got 2 fleet add from BSEP. Loading is disastrous for 80% of its route apart from Woodlands Road to Kranji and Marsiling to Woodlands where you have 178A.
852 is just a back up service.

Upgrade 160? idk if theres a need to add some SDs to tank the load in SG sector but i know 170 alr tanking all aft kranji onwards. Plus i rmb 160 duplicates quite a few services right?
And i think no DDs will be allocated for cross-borders. It would be good but i doubt so.

im not sure for 178 but 852 the loading may be low but, correct me if am wrong, i find that the loading during peak hours are quite healthy wad. Since low loading thats why low freq during off-peak lo

idk leh. Even i had thought of this since young. Prolly is becoz of the prob that the buses hav to be lisenced to enter JB (or smth along this line), low height clearance (i rmb some places have like 5m, higher than sg, but i cant rmb whether the entire route has low height clearance) and maybe the prob of tree pruning lo. These r my speculations which might be wrong lol
in my opinion 156 and 178 demand not too bad for peak, 178 useful for Woodlands Road and Marsiling area (maybe Boon Lay as well), 156 is more useful for the sengkang area.

loading mainly all at sengkang/yck area heading to Bishan MRT, then rather empty.

yes correct, prob >BNL will be residents in Marsiling area heading to Kranji MRT and >WDL the workers going back home (either of the 3 MRTs).
Sv160 never get any benefits from BSEP.....sad case

A few buses added? Idk lol
178 and 852 still useful..Only thing during off peak there is lesser demands,But still can cover the bus fuel,BC salary cost mah.

Height restrictions at JB Checkpoint (or maybe Woodlands?). Remember its height limit is 4m, not fit for double-decker usage, same as airport. So only single deckers and coaches can be used. 2-door boarding is possible at checkpoints. If not SBST would have used Volvo B9TLs on its own market long time ago.
If there is a height restriction, the double decker will probably it will become a Hippo fully open-top bus.

Backup as in "not the main service in consideration".
There is 851 from Marymount to Yishun, there is 74 from AMK Ave 6 till King Alber Park, there is 157 from Macritchie to Bukit Batok and several other services like 66/174 from Bukit Timah till Bukit Batok.
Hence loading on 852 is so low. It is there because of legacy reasons. Even if it is done away with, won't cause an eye lid to battle except those who insist people take 852 from Yishun to Bukit Batok (which is really a joke).
