the habits also used to be so crappy but are now improved due to refurbishment
fyi roaring CDGEs and KUBs are also the minority of the fleet (or less than half for KUBs)

what he said is true. only some Euro5 KUBs roar. Most Euro4 KUBs are quite quiet

Because aircon unit directly inline with engine,Wrong setting roaring lor

The oldest SBS Citaros are nowhere better than the SMRT ones. Though I must say that the materials used in the Citaro makes it harder to clean compared to those used in the Gemilang bodied buses. Also, the Citaros generally sound overworked, regardless of the company operating it, they are just the wrong type of bus for Singapore's operating conditions.
But I have to agree with the others that SBS's maintenance doesn't seem as good as before. Its not just limited to one depot, but across the whole operation. Citaros roaring eg 6574 now, 6065 a few months back, the older B9TLs also haven't aged well, that can be easily observed.

i didnt say and i dont think u should be expecting all buses to be totally clean.. it is a public bus afterall and commuters litter. in fact such scenarios are so much more prominent on smrt buses
Then where's your evidence?? Ah, talk so easy hor, say I generalise. At least I got somehing to show... You one to talk lor! Pot calling kettle black.
Now you wanna dodge from reality already... the truth is right there and it is harsh reality. Just because people litter, means that the operators then do not have the obligation to keep their buses clean? What kind of reasoning is that?? I am not even expecting all buses to be totally clean lor... just like how I won't (and you shouldn't) expect all SMRT buses to be clean... but truth be told I am telling you that AS A WHOLE SMRT buses are way cleaner than SBST buses! So snap out of it! Saying that buses are dirty =/= expecting all buses to be clean!
(btw I can get more pics if u want I see them on the buses every day anyway)

Wrong lor... don't try to smoke your way through it isn't working
Sure maybe you're right about the OCs... but you are WRONG about the difference man. The KUBs are sure as hell BEAT in terms of maintenance... jerky, roaring, overheating easily... nowadays more often are cases of buses unable to pickup... Don't even talk about the CDGEs man, I bet you wont even dare to sit on the seats since they are so charred and dirty... esp the last row...
The habits are not crappy okay... they dont shake as much, and are generally smooth in performance... yes some may be noisy... but obv with more axles to power this will happen...
(and HEY you wouldnt believe the CDGEs are actually noisier than that)
Minority my FOOT... you go and take lor... Just take any AM AR BB BN CDGE and experience the horrors yourself... esp the ones on svc 7, god those are the absolute worst

Proudly brought to you by SBST...
My nephew took this, not all recent but recent enough to the time SMRT started bringing in DDs and have improved its quality of buses...
In the same period of time for SMRT side, even the Box rigids are SPOTLESS compared to this...
And I can tell you this is not isolated... The KUB and B9 (all makes) are the worst now
I can bet with you right, you place a tissue or something next to a seat or on the window, you will still find it chilling down there after a fortnight or so...
I don't even know which firm SBST outsources its hygiene operations to, but whoever is doing is not doing a good job...
And until they get it dealt with I really don't wanna ride on filthy buses...
I take 24 and 858 every week... it's almost heaven and hell difference... (and dont try to twist this okay SMRT is the heaven)
And I'm not gonna have another 5 years of carnage under Seletar with a company that couldn't even take care of the interior... Truly overrated company SBST is!
And this photo is over a year old.
If you want to lobby against any particular operators, I have a laundry list of complaints of what is happening in Australia too.

Some? More like most... only the HG ones are the quiet ones... not one other depot is spared...

Yes, wrong type esp SG always limit to 60kmh and under tune the buses...

Yes, you should. The broom stick and pan placed onboard SBS Transit buses is not for show.

Citaros can be used provided don't mess the 1st gear,Its only 6340cc compared to Scania K series 8867cc/9290cc,MB OC500LE 11967cc,MAN A22 10518cc!60 kmh is not a big deal..Just don't disturb go and tune the 1st gear until so torqueless!!

As long as Seletar and Sembawang packages dun give them. By right at most shud let them operate max 1 package so that no area will suffer as the non favourite package.

That's rubbish logic on your end that they will deploy the DDs this way...
The buses are controlled by LTA... SMRT has no say... Where did you even think of such a thing?
It takes two hands to clap,BCs doesn't want to report because not his/her permanent bus or Technicians everything say can..Starter also play a part 'Where got spare bus to change'?

Yes I do admit that it is a very far fetched notion. I didnt say they definitely will... but I know they will at least try. I.e. lobby LTA for it. Suddenly they have 100+ more DDs at their disposal that they can possibly use to further pamper their favourite WDL/CCK/BPJ! Why wouldnt they be tempted to lobby LTA for permission?
I know in theory LTA has the only say, but if in reality it really is, GA would not have been able to insist on bus type (if it really happened).
So, there shud not be even a sliver of hope of this happening. The only surefire way is that SMRT not win the tender.

What i fear is not adhoc kinda swap. What I fear is something on a more systematic level. Pls refer to my reply to SMB128B above.

And the tender was extended for three weeks, as LTA themselves are caught off guard by the interlining issues faced by GA. If they aren't so green (pun intended), they wouldn't be pushed around by operators. I know the one at Perth doesn't.

I hope they wont be so green when it comes to seletar and subsequent packages. I hope GA will come good after the horrible mess in the punggol and pasir ris feeders. I love what they did for 85 though, as one positive out of the many negatives.
From my observations, BBDEP only cares to maintain Wrights, and neglects CDGEs.
