36 starting from CGA and looping at Marine Parade only will be a flop for sure.

Hi mr array88, yes agree. The link from changi airport to the world famous orchard road was the main reason for this service when it was launched. Cheers. Thanks.

Bukannya diam penggali berkarat, melainkan diam ubi berisi.
Or make Siglap Link a proper roadside Terminal for svc 36 to start there..A new service from Eunos can loop at Airport via Still Rd,Marine Parade Rd,Siglap Rd/Link,ECP and Airport hahahahaha...Excuse me can speak English please..
To be honest, does tourist from CGA even take 36 to Orchard, Marina Bay area?
Talk about people catching the last train they missed at CGA by taking 36 and alight at City Hall MRT. The route would have been well a duplication of EWL
They could intro 16e from Mandarin Gdns to Orchard to alleviate peak period crowding. Instead of turning at Joo Chiat, the bus will go express along Amber, Mountbatten & Nicoll Highway before stopping at Suntec.

Not that many of them.
36 main loading is Marine Parade to city. Airport to Marine Parade per bus around 20-30 pax. Airport to city will be at max 5 pax but 80-90% buses 0 pax.
If you want even further drill down
36 at Parkway Parade has around 40 pax. Around 30 pax board at 3 stops along Amber Road, Mountbatten Road and if at all there is still space then Tanjong Katong South.
Out of 70 pax, more than half, around 40 pax alight in Suntec city. there are around 30 pax who take bus further to Orchard road.
This is regular pattern of sv 36 during peak hours.
* Those who say 36 is for airport to orchard know NOTHING about the loading on this route.
36 can be cut to do UEC - Tomlinson (only thing is it will duplicates 14, 43 & 48) & service 1 Eunos - Airport via Geylang Rd/Tanjong Katong Rd, 36 route to airport.
There's a reason why Service 390 (plying directly between Changi Airport, Marina Centre and Orchard without passing through Marine Parade) didn't make it in the past.

Hi mr busanalyser, I think you misunderstood. What I mean is when sbs 36 was launched initially by the authorities, it was meant as a alternative for airport to the world famous orchard road. Not referring to the loading on this route. Hope you understand. Cheers. Thanks.

Different case for 989 though..Not to compete directly with MRT kakaka

Now Airport to CBD i think less than 8 pax la,Mostly alight at Marine Parade. The only catchment for peak hours is from Mandarin Gardens to Suntec or Penang Rd and not beyond that.If LTA want can split into two service lor.BCs also not stressed mah,Now newbies all scared to drive 36 and 518 also all because there is no termination point that they can rest.Tomlinson Rd also cannot built a proper Terminal already.
SWT 166A : Clementi Int - Alexandra Rd
The section between Clementi Int and Alexandra Rd is where single-decker buses on service 166 usually have very high loading during peak hours.
The loading is so high that it is almost not possible to board the single-decker buses on service 166 between Commonwealth Avenue West and Ayer Rajah Expressway, during morning peak hours.
However, as 166 is a long route, it may not be wise to do single-to-double fleet upgrades just for that "short section" of the route (8km out of 29km).
Therefore, I would like to recommend that we have a Short-Working Trip (SWT) of service 166 between Clementi Int and Alexandra Rd, during peak hours.

Why not Joo Koon service?

True... 166 is the only service catering Clementi/Dover to Alexandra/HF and is totally packed during AM (7-9am) and during PM towards Clementi (530-7pm).
I think SBST has to manage its deployment of buses better. It has 18 DDs, 8 SDs.
The loading is high between Mayflower - Little India (AM) and Clementi to Alexandra. The SDs need to be deployed such that during AM peak they are between Alexandra Road and AMK (strictly SD loading). I am also okay if they deploy the SDs back to back on those slots.
By the time they come to AMK and layover and start trip back to Clementi, AM peak would be over and SDs will cater the load nicely back towards Clementi.
Thoughts?
I have an idea;
A Downtown Core bus loop.

989 is because the route is too long in Guinness World Records.
Another breakthrough will be 858. Need a Cross Island Line.
