Adjustments:
171: Yishun - Jurong East
41: Jurong East - Shenton Way
(If there are space constraints, then it may be possible to extend a service with relatively low loading northwards to BB Int ... perhaps 49, 105 or 197 ...? Alternatively can lead 171 back to BB via Toh Guan Rd & BB West Ave 3/6, though duplicative with 188 but helps to provide DTL link for those areas too.)

Good suggestion but will maintain 171 route exactly like 41 route at Toh Guan East as there are many who take from the industrial estate to DTL. This connection will be lost.
With this, 105 should be amended to terminate at Bukit Batok Interchange to make way for one more service at Jurong East. No pax will get affected as there will still be 52, 99 in parallel from Clementi and 52, 171, 183, 333, 990 from Toh Guan estate to JE.

Similar to what I had proposed previously except for the svc 29 part in Changi Village and st 41 in Pasir Ris.
svc 29 part in Changi Village has v low loading. Don't see the point of having another service. Routing via st 41 will have issues with using DDs.
The route will be quite duplicative with sv 89 from PSR Dr 3 to PSR Dr 12. But no choice I guess since there are already so many services in Pasir Ris. Really don't see the point of introducing svc 68 between Pasir Ris and Tampines.
Another poor loading svc like 46. svc 46 will have potential in future with DTL3 but svc 68 I have a lot of doubts even from future perspective. Tampines North is far away in 2020.

I agree. I wouldn't do svc 983 but hope new service 973 can cover this part of Gangsa.

So? 973 can cover Chestnut, Dairy Farm on its way to Hume and also call at stop along Gangsa for Korea Christian Church and Blks 145-152 and the original location of Fajar Sec School. The one you are talking about is a temp. location

That part of Gangsa is walking distance to Petir Rd.
But would be good to connect it to BPJ MRT/Interchange as that is not walking distance to Gangsa Road end.
Also, some say Route 178 may be affected bu DTL2. It may make sense to merge it with Route 172. Old Jurong Road section can be covered by Route 176, as Hillview already has Routes 963 & 970.

So many services at Pasir Ris already, don't really understand why they want to introduce svc 68.
The above svc duplicates svc 3 for all of its Pasir Ris section. svc 3 in itself is running at super high frequency and SDs can tank load easily.

Your 501 is very duplicative of 180/187, unless you use a lot of express sectors (probably can use KJE/PIE to skip BB).
503 is comprehensive but too long, it would not be a good idea to serve every major town along the way with one service. Also not quite a good idea to do JE --> BPJ --> Orchard; doing BPJ --> JE --> Orchard would be more direct.

YES THAT IS THE WAY. SOO many night buses duplicate each other so badly. idk if LTA will re-route them in the future

Actually, now that the BCM is well underway, it would be a good idea for LTA to look at the overall night bus network in general, and perhaps rationalize the whole network. In my opinion, it would be good to have some sort of 24 hour bus service within the city centre, and then buses leaving hourly from the city centre to the residential towns for the benefit of not just party-goers but also tourists and night-shift (and early-morning-shift workers). What do you guys think about the current night bus network?
If they want to reduce duplication, i do hope that all of the night service fares will be standardised... $4.50 is way too expensive.. i would rather take nite owl and walk back home since nite owl doesn't enter my area...

Yes i agree. Unless u are a student r senior citizen, there is only a diff of $0.10 if u r travelling frm city or between estates for adult fares. But will be more worth it if you r travelling within an estate. IMO the Nite Owl fare structure is ok (ok only) i would say, just expensive lorh.

They seriously need to reconsider this lor. But then again, would 24h services (maybe feeders) be profitable? Last time TIBS introduced intratown night buses but withdrawn due to low demand even on weekend nights.
In anyways, i think LTA would need to consider how services duplicate each other, such as 1N and NR1 as stated above (im pretty sure there are other incidences). The only thing that im more satisfied with the night buses is that for SMRT, they have different starting points so it can accomodate to more people even thou they might have to change buses
Essentially i think night buses are operating at a loss. From my past observations, i see that they usually operate with a low demand (or no demand?). Each bus seems to carry no more that 20 people.
I took these buses for abt 3 to 4 times. The first 2 times i cant rmb much details. But more recently, when i took 1N, i see that once theres only about 4 to 5 pax (SG50 night), and on another occasion, about 8 pax on board, which is quite decent and hence my conclusion.
Problem i see night buses suffering is: 1. Their route is VERY winding, and that is why people who know they exist, do not take the buses as they find that cabs can do a better job (who cares abt fares when their comfy bed is calling to them) to bring them home quick. 2. Most people do not know that these services exist! But of course, i make these conclusions based on normal operating periods and not during festive seasons (then again, SG50 night the bus i took oso not a lot of people, what does it show?)
I think the best way to optimise their usage would be to standardise their fares (make it the same as express services?). idk how these routes can be made more direct. Any thoughts? Maybe my views are wrong, so i'm curious what others think about it.

I think that if the fares for the night bus are lowered any further then they will probably run into greater losses so that's probably unlikely to happen.
I wonder if it would be feasible for the night buses to operate routes largely parallel to the existing MRT network (like modified bus bridging services) so that when the MRT system is closed for the night, the buses can take over to enable people to continue travelling across Singapore. As of now the night buses go from city to HDB towns in a one-way fashion, but I think two-way (and less winding!) services could be useful to more people ...

Not sure for other night buses, but i rmb the route of NR1: it goes thru all the estates as it advances up the north-south line up to yishun, hence veryy winding
