I'll take the A22 instead...
Enough of A22s and cuitaros (plus their variants)
All the B10Ms are gone.
No Japanese or Korean buses?

Nay,If LTA want simple and more similarities then buy B9L with Euro V engine..Spare parts a lot similiar to its DD cousin.
According to Plaxtoni bus Page on FB , volvo will be providing both Hong Kong and Singapore a B8L Demo unit for evaluations . ETA : Q1 2017 .

I do miss the days when our bus fleet's were so varied and filled with many different models. However, in this cost-efficient world it's probably just better to consistently large batches of one model.

Yes, having the same model in large quantity is more cost effective.
This is called "economies of scale".
When the order is large, Manufacturers and Advertising companies usually offer substantial discounts, as producing in large quantities lowers the unit cost of production. This enables the bus company to procure the products and services at lower prices, and as a result, they are able to generate higher revenue.
When there are only a few models, Technicians can become specialised in handling the buses. As they become specialised, they tend to make less mistakes, and thus productivity increases.
With higher revenue and productivity, banks and financial institutions would be more willing to provide financial support to the bus company, at lower rates.
^^ Which is why Go-Ahead only wants B9TLs and Citaros, and they outsource the advertising to Moove media.
However, the lack of communication and coordination in the very beginning worked against them.
Hopefully, things are better now, because there are indeed economies of scale to be reaped from Go-Ahead's way of operating and managing the bus services.

Considering there are already so many new double decker bus models in Singapore, it is unlikely that the LTA will use another new double decker bus model until ten years later when B9TL lease expire.

Yes i sometimes do too. However, if LTA were to standardise the brand of vehicles to use i would always go for my preferred brand.
Future SG Bus fleets
Majority Double Deckers:Volvo
Minority Double Deckers:M A N(Unless LTA decide to order another 200) & Alexander Dennis.
Majority Single Deckers:Mercedes-Benz & M A N
Minority Single Deckers:?

What's the use of just two brands when most of the ex-SBS plate are in crappy condition and spend a fortune to repair and finetuned them again?Depending on the agents also.Volvo,MAN,MB,Scania all got agent here thus save on shipping cost.ADL has no more agent here.
And do you know why GA request to have 1189/1190/5157/5158/5159 as spare fleets?Because most of the repaired buses still can't be roadworthy condition and they lost lots of trips because of many buses maintenance issue. They should have just take 15 E500s that LTA offer them last time instead to opt for those 33xx series B9TL which in a terrible state.

then go-ahead should find way to improve on their mechanic skill to repair the buses... cant even maintain/repair some 4 years old buses? die die must use new buses? even if give them new buses also will become lousy buses very soon.
then what about SBST? SBST have to send over those BSEP citaros/B9TL to TT/GA...
what do they get in return to operate? even older KUB/citaros/B9TL...sv50 are getting those 10 year old CDGE B9TL... so shouldnt SBST be the one who complain about higher maintainance cost/downtime? other BSEP service also getting KUB as well. are you saying that these older buses are in better condition than those 33xx series B9?

What to do?Mechanics also many ex-SBST,Then why cannot do then?As for me as long aircon working fine, engine working fine,I just drive. Not those terrible state buses like jerking retartder,Gearbox failure etc...

ADL agent move to KL? Rapid Bus using E200 and E500 aren't they? Anyway i hope the minority SD fleet gets supplied by Scania. in fact Penang (KUB + E500) has nicer fleet than LTA (Citaro + B9TL). HK lagi best. E500 Mk 4 sia.
If like Beijing, that also means we get A24 deployed on GCM/BSEP basis.
Unfortunately we live in an era of "use and throw". Who doesn't love brand new buses. But if you don't maintain them regularly, then what is the point of buying them.
When the Scania K230UB and Mercedes-Benz OC500LE was first introduced, everyone was raving over them too...
Well, I believe when the buses are procured, they come with warranty. If spoil, can ask the manufacturer to repair.
I understand the shipment may take 2-3 weeks to arrive, but there should be spare parts available as and when there are buses to repair.

I heard GAS has a sizeable team of Pinoy mechanics to help cut cost...

Are they the sort of people who don't know jack shit about the job?
I think it's also the problem of which buses can withstand aging better. Objectively speaking B9 is better at this. But this is not yet considering the A95 which is a brand new product just introduced in Asian markets a year plus ago. And I can tell you the single decker variant is doing a good job at it...

Was about to rant, until I remember MOM got say can only hire up to how many percent foreign talent...

You're right,They're there to do good for nothing repairs..All depend on Singaporean and Malaysian tech only.
Hi mates,
Did SBST win the seletar package? I saw a sign erected along Lentor Avenue (entrance to new Seletar Depot). The sign reads: < SBS Transit
