For those who are interested, below is the 860 AM loading as observed at stop opp blk 798 (Khatib MRT).
There are lot of things happening in the picture below:
red in the frequency indicates arrival of 860A
light pink is rigid, dark pink is DD, purple is the sole bendy
highlighted rego indicates repeat bus. Some 860 comes back as 860A, and some 860A come back as 860.
Overall 21 buses in 70 minutes interval, indicates frequency of 03-04 minutes. There is an interval from 08.09 to 08.14am, where there were 6 buses back-to-back at 01 min/bus frequency.
Star indicates that the bus is eligible for HC slot with <50 pax. I have taken >50 pax as I believe there would be 10-15 pax alighting at stop before Yishun Ave 2, as some people prefer to walk to MRT or transfer to stop opp Khatib MRT. Hence, this stop is not the "highest loading" point.
From my AM observation, the DDs are doing extremely well on 860
Someone please correct sgwiki.

Anyone has observed the loading for 127? Seems that no one uses upper deck of those DDs AT ALL.
Meanwhile, for 129, during AM Peak, got alot of ppl board along Tampines Ave 1 and alight at Bartley MRT to take CCL, boosting the ridership at Bartley MRT significantly.

Loading seems quite significant in opposite direction of peak. Don't you think there is an issue with the way the buses are deployed?
All the SDs together and all the HC buses together? Also seems like the SDs are often delayed and come after quite an interval. This is consistent with my observation on most high loading services where SDs get delayed due to the increased time required for boarding/alighting and asking passengers to move in.

All 4 MAN DD (SG5790H, SG5741A, SG5766D & SG5785Z) were in order with about a 5min gap before I started observing the loading..
Personally went to board SG5741A (under Duty 860PM05) from Opp Blk 672C at 1819hr.. Lower deck was almost fully seated with 5+ standees, whereas the upper deck having about 10+ pax..
After the bus departed Opp Blk 798 (Bus stop near Khatib station) at 1827hr, both lower and upper deck were fully seated, with about 15+ standees at the lower deck..
Loading analysis of bus service 160/170/170*/950
Date: 23 February 2017 (Thursday)
Time: 6:28am to 7:51am
From Larkin Ter to Johor Bahru Checkpt:
14 people on the bus (170)
From Johor Bahru Checkpt to Woodlands Checkpt:
22 people on the bus (170*)
(most people alighted halfway and walked, as walking is faster.)
From Woodlands Checkpt to Kranji Stn:
around 80 people on the bus (160)
As you can see, most of us Malaysians only take 160/170/170*/950 after we clear the Singapore custom. This is because your Singapore bus only arrive at 6am, and we need to come out very early so as to avoid the jam. Furthermore, the traffic at causeway is barely moving during this time of the day.
Although only individual loading, these figures represent the loading on 160, 170, 170* and 950 at this time of the day, as they all serve the same section (except 170 which goes further to Larkin).

Bro... 127 has 3 DDs and 2 SDs operating...
When I took it on Wednesday, I spotted 3 B9TLs (2 lush green, 1 SBS livery) and 1 Citaro (lush green).
Frequency is around 07-10 mins.
All buses observed had <20 pax... 1 of the DDs observed along Tampines Ave 10 towards MRT had only around 10 pax with only 1 pax on upper deck.

There are many such la... 46 also 💩
But with DTL3 in 2018, 46 loading will improve. For 127 also once the industrial estate is developed around 2020, DDs will be needed but LTA too generous la... give DDs always 2-4 years in advance of potential.
129 on other hand has 6 Citaros even if pax travel long distances.

after 5-6 weeks of high loading on 975 on school days they finally added more DD trips at earlier timing

975 does not have any height restriction. It is just that LCK has no much developments there and the buses usually have very Low loading except for few peak hour trips. Hence DDS don't really make sense (especially when smrt is still struggling with Hc buses).
Sunday night observations at Bukit Timah Rd (Little India MRT) towards Woodlands Road, between 2110 hrs and 2215 hrs
There seems to be some disagreements in this forum regarding the utility of 170, so I went to observe its loading from Little India (together with all other services there). I thought the peak would be at night from 10pm onwards, but it seems that I'm wrong - it's probably much earlier at 6-8pm instead.
Some of these figures below are just estimations and may be extremely inaccurate, as there are usually multiple buses arriving at this bus stop together, and it's also hard for me to count the no. of pax on the upper decks of DDs. (My method of estimation on DDs: Check no. of people on the left side of upper deck, assume same no. of ppl on both sides, then plus those on lower deck)
Note: The previous bus stop (Rochor MRT) has slightly less pax boarding, but still significant.

I stopped recording here because: 1) Loading seems to be dying (maybe it will pick up again at 11pm or so, but I really don't know); 2) I was tired and wanted some rest.
My conclusions:
- Even with erratic frequency, 170/A still has SD loading only. Loading might be better from 6-8pm but I'm not sure.
- 67 has been hit heavily by DTL2 - what I observed was actually SD loading. Guess DDs are there for the Tampines-Little India sector with better loading.
- 960 has also been impacted. Previously bendies and DDs would be packed to the door. (Maybe it's due to the wrong timing)
- 980 seems to be doing quite well. In fact it has the best loading among the SD services.
Recommendations:
- It does make sense for 170 to be cut to Bukit Panjang Int, provided if there's still space.
- However, if that is done, there needs to be fleet addition for 960 on weekends. Based on my knowledge, most Indian workers take 170 to their dorms between BPJ and Kranji, so they will turn to 960. From above, 960 currently has 60-70 pax between 9-10 pm, and with pax from 170, it can easily hit 90-100 pax.
- The remaining pax travelling to Bt Timah Rd / Upp Bt Timah Rd can take 67, which will improve its utility between CCK and Little India.
Just my two cents worth.

2215 67 DD: [+11-1} 37I stopped recording here because: 1) Loading seems to be dying (maybe it will pick up again at 11pm or so, but I really don't know); 2) I was tired and wanted some rest.
In fact it has the best loading among the SD services.Recommendations:
- It does make sense for 170 to be cut to Bukit Panjang Int, provided if there's still space.
- However, if that is done, there needs to be fleet addition for 960 on weekends. Based on my knowledge, most Indian workers take 170 to their dorms between BPJ and Kranji, so they will turn to 960. From above, 960 currently has 60-70 pax between 9-10 pm, and with pax from 170, it can easily hit 90-100 pax.
- The remaining pax travelling to Bt Timah Rd / Upp Bt Timah Rd can take 67, which will improve its utility between CCK and Little India.Just my two cents worth.
Your observations are similar to mine. I thought weekend loading would be better as some claimed, but doesn't seem so. Please note 6-8pm is definitely not the peak loading as workers will eat dinner and leave between 8-10 pm from Little India area.
It is simple, most of them now take DTL2 to BPJ. Those who want to take bus opt for 960. Hence, you still see high loading on 960. 66/67 loading is poor. Your estimates are higher, because if you ever notice more people sit on the left of upper deck than on the right side. So you can still reduce some numbers. 170/A as I have always said will have some 20-30 pax throughout its route until it hits BPJ. + once 171, 961 kick in along the way, loading gets even further split.
