Tampines St 83 -- 19 (-1/6), 37 (-1/19) Saw a 291 at St 84 so will be just 1 min behind. Only 1 person did not board
Tampines Ave 5 -- 50 (-2/15), 52 (-1/3) 291 behind bunched with 46 DD and had around 40-50 pax.
Tampines Interchange ... reached at 11.04am. BC asked me to alight.
Bus departed at 11.12 am (basically halted for 08 mins). Bus departed with ZERO (0) pax from interchange.
I went to Century Square and came back since I had to alight anyway.
Came back to board bus at 12.27pm 5551G
Tampines Interchange -- 0 note: this is the 2nd DD observed leaving interchange with 0 pax.
Tampines Ave 5 -- 3 (0/3), 5 (0/2)

New Upper Changi Rd -- 2 (-2/2)
Bedok South Ave 3 -- 4 (0/2), 2 (-2/0), 2(0/0)
UEC -- 0 (-2/0) I also alighted here.
* Spoke to the BC. He said it is this pattern since bus launch. Say he not know why DD deploy on this route and was laughing. Say bus get more pax only to Tampines interchange but leave mostly with less than 5 pax from Tampines. But he agreed when I said that if there is 291 in front, there won't be anyone boarding to Tampines also. Such a waste of resources.
Same problem with 258, leaves BNL with less than 10 pax (occasionally 15-20pax during peak) but loading towards BNL can hit above 50 pax (and sometimes, the app indicate yellow loading towards BNL)
With 243 operating at such a great frequency and along with 181 serving Street 75, I think it is best for 258 to serve Avenue 4 after serving Street 81 before returning to Pioneer MRT/Joo Koon Int or extend it further to Lakeside as suggested by BusAnalayzer to reduce duplication along Street 75
Originally posted by gekpohboy:This is called "anticipate future and stay relevant", which is one of the principles of governance. When the DTL 3 opens next year, this bus service may receive high loadings.
Not when you are supposed to take into consideration the demand of the resources right now, especially when they are tight (don't forget that there are some services that really need DDs).
It's like operating bus-parallel services along an MRT line just to anticipate the demand when there is a disruption / breakdown.
The resource management department could really take in more feedback from the BCs.
The route planning and resource allocation department of LTA has FAILED with BSEP in my opinion. And they DONT learn from their mistakes.
41 - duplicates 183 from Toh Guan East to Jurong East, when 183 DDs operate at 06-08m frequency + there is 183B/downroutes. If they did this, they should have extended/diverted 52/105.
46 - there is need in future to connect Bedok North Road to DTL3. For Tampines West, let's not forget there is 291/293 that still connects Tampines West to DTL3. Had they wanted to plan this route they should have extended it to Pasir Ris via Tampines North rather than just duplicating 291 in Tampines sector + introduced way too early.
49 - it is many duplications of 98, 246, 254 to Lakeside from Corporation Estate, still okay but the extension to Jurong East is so uncalled for
116 - duplicates 72 from HG Ave 9 to HG Interchange, when 72 DDs operate at 05-06 min frequency + there was 72A.
76, 134 & 150 - the split between 76/134 could have been better managed with 76 extending to Eunos Interchange via Still Road. Really NO need of 2 services when 76 could have done the job without causing disruption. Current 76 going to Eunos is also going empty given there is 24, 28, 154, 155 all from Paya Lebar to Eunos.
143M - really didn't need this M variant when there is 79/143 DDs from Teban to Jurong East
258 - There is 243G/W and 181 to Boon Lay. 258 was better off extended to Lakeside or just loop around st 81 via JW ave 4 or ave 5.
P variants - worst way to just waste resources when the parent services have been bombarded with too many buses.
I have to admit that the SMRT routes launched by BSEP have been better. For SBST, every 2nd route has been poorly planned barring a few.
Some people seems to forget the purpose of this BSEP bus svc...Of course it will compliment the existing high loading svc in some sectors thats why the loading pattern doesn't satisfied you..If not people like you will complain why bus so packed? Why no complimentary service to back it up etc bla bla bla...Wake up.
Of course the only question is why they wasted resource by deploy more DDs..
one reason I can think is bcos the population is growing = usage of transport growing meaning more pax will ride. If no DDs but got huge crowd everyone complains
In addition to the campaign which is disturbing but thank god it has changed

Okay Agreed. And then you should stop complaining in future why DDs are used on those services.

You even complain about DDs on 47 when in fact 47 is doing much better than all above stated services and has more unique route. I think we cannot have double standards, right? :)

308 start to pick up a little demand already... Morning peak hours towards keat hong have at least 3 passengers around 7am

I complain? At least I experienced it first hand rather than some random observation and yours is quite contradicting..Whatever favor you,You will write something like 80-100 pax when actual thing is not..You say you're busy man then got time to do bus loading analyze?

Hi mr carbikebus, cool down. One man's meat is another man's poison. Loading analysis is just one part of a bus fan's items. As I have always said, what one guy observed may not be true for another guy. The fare card computerized system will have the data. LTA has all the datas and they know the high loading and low loading areas. Whatever you read from other people observation here, please take it with a pinch of salt. Cheers. Thanks.

979M also, can usually see up to 10 pax during morning (mostly students from the school at Blk 765), up to 15pax during afternoon (school dismissal) and about 5 pax during PM peak.. i guess more people getting used to 979M arrival times..
This loading analysis is purely for users here to see how poor is the passenger demand for Parks Service 408 on a typical weekend (30 July 2016, 1239 hrs), which leads to its impending withdrawal tomorrow. Bolded bus stops indicate sectors of the route with passengers.
HarbourFront Int -- 0 (0/0)
Telok Blangah Rd -- 0 (0/0), 0 (0/0)
Henderson Rd -- 0 (0/0), 0 (0/0), 0 (0/0)
Depot Rd -- 0 (0/0), 0 (0/0), 1 (-0/1), 1 (0/0)
Alexandra Rd -- 1 (0/0), 0 (-1/0), 0 (0/0)
Port Rd -- 1 (-0/1), 0 (-1/0)
Labrador Villa Rd -- 0 (0/0)
Alexandra Rd -- 0 (0/0), 1 (-0/1)
Depot Rd -- 2 (-0/1), 2 (0/0), 1 (-2/1), 0 (-1/0)
Henderson Rd -- 2 (-0/2), 2 (0/0), 2 (0/0)
Telok Blangah Rd -- 1 (-1/0), 1 (0/0)
Since the number of passengers who take 408 in overall is so little, let's analyze the riding pattern for each passenger who took the service.
Easily substituted with sv57
* The first passenger who took 408 from Depot Rd (Blk 114) alighted along Alexandra Rd (opp Alexandra Pt).
* The third passenger who took 408 from Alexandra Rd (Alexandra Pt) alighted along Depot Rd (opp Hewlett Packard).
Easily substituted with sv57, sv175 & sv195
* The fourth passenger who took 408 from Depot Rd (The Interlace) alighted at opp Hewlett Packard stop.
* The fifth passenger who took 408 from Depot Rd (opp Hewlett Packard) alighted at the next stop (Blk 118).
Easily substituted with sv131 & sv145
* The sixth passenger who took 408 from Henderson Rd (Blk 1) alighted at Telok Blangah Rd (bef Chr Community Chapel).
* The seventh passenger who took 408 from Henderson Rd (Blk 1) alighted in HarbourFront Int.
A lost connection, in walking distance?
* The second passenger who took 408 from Port Rd (CP 'A') alighted at the next stop (CP 'B'). The passenger was most likely a jogger who took 408 to connect between different areas in Labrador Park. The loss of 408 will probably have an impact passengers travelling between different parts of Labrador Park, but it is easily within walking distance and it's only one passenger in this instance.

Hi mr carbikebus, yes we trust you. We want a new bus service to connect somewhere from xxxx to loop at telok blangah heights area which seem to be quite badly connected. There are many new blocks of flats there but there are only 120, 124 and 273. For the rest of the services, need to either walk or take a bus transfer to telok blangah road or Henderson road which is quite a distance away. Cheers. Thanks.

Which is nearer?HBF or BTM to Orchard? For now better dont la bro,Those 3 lots better keep as spare for Svc 65/93 split buses.

Telok Blangah Heights needs a better connection to EWL/amenities at Tiong Bahru. 120 is very winding.

St Mikes still okay because only SBST buses..If introduce svc 12x(Svc 21 split) still got a few lots or can park at the sideway.
Super high loading on 43/M at 10.45 a.m.
At last, the DDs are well utilised.
SBS3435K (43M) and SBS3440U (43) towards Serangoon/UEC respectively were packed full to the door at YCK Rd. They were already full when they entered YCK Rd. Doesn't look like one off, the pax seem to come from Buangkok Green.
Same for SBS3459S on 43 opposite at Buangkok Green towards Punggol. SBS6508P on 43M was behind SBS3459S with less than 20 pax. Front EDS still spoilt, but no desto.

A peak loading of just 5 pax?
I would categorise this service 46, as well as 116, as 'cannibal services'. They duplicate other bus services and are meant to 'cannibalise' other services' pax rather than eat the MRT pax).
