For now if 187 can deploy 7 DDs and 20 SDs is good enough.

100% agree, 187 is spammed with too many rigids though my ideal fleet for 187 would be 3 DDs, 6 bendies (NWAB) and 16 rigids
The bendies will eventually be replaced by DDs as I checked sgwiki spare buses and noted there are only 4 spare DDs in WLDEP/WPDEP
Edit: I've posted my fleet suggestion for Svc 187 under Your Own Deployment

* Evening peak towards Marina Center, bus had < 10 pax towards city
* Main loading came between Mandai/Yew Tee Industrial Estate to BPJ Town... many alighted to walk up the HDBs at Senja.
* Buses in opposite direction, even rigids had only seated loading at PIE/BKE and in BPJ town. Buses on Woodland Road towards WRI were packed. This was mainly loading from Mandai Estate to Kranji-Marsiling.
* 960 IMO has been heavily impacted by DTL in BPJ-city sector.

No rationalisation planned because Funan will not be around.
Has anyone done loading observation for 171 lately? Is there significant demand imbalance, and would it be better off if the BPJ - Marina Ctr section is split / merged with 700 / removed entirely?

171 loading is between BPJ and Yishun. The loading between BPJ and city has definitely dropped, but there is significant loading between Stevens and city as there are many who board from the condos along the Bukit Timah stretch between Stevens and Newton to get to Orchard.
The rationalisation has to be better planned as there are many BPJ-city routes.
67, 170, 171, 700, 960, 961. Between these routes there needs to be some rationalization.
Today svc 960 DDs packed to the brim..The best way is to deploy 14 SDs,8 BD and 7 DDs during Monday-Thursday,12 SDs,9 DDs and 8 BDs for Fri.Sat/Sun can deploy 10 DDs,10 SDs and 7 BDs.
SATURDAY afternoon observations on 990 (yesterday):
- 990's loading has grown quite a lot. Today at 3.50pm the bus that I took had already received 30 pax when turning from BB East Ave 3 to Ave 6, which is quite good for a Saturday afternoon.
- Noted that about half of the pax took 990 from Ave 3 (with a good number of transfer pax at Keming Pri Sch) instead of from the interchange. 6-7 pax alighted at the first stop along Ave 6 where 990 is the only service.
- Quite a number of people also use 990 from BB Ave 6 towards JE and the bus got around 30 pax again when turning into BB Ctrl. 1/3 of them aligned at IMM, 1/3 at Big Box and the rest at Jurong East MRT/Temp Int. Another 10 pax boarded at bus stop outside Jurong East Temp Int where I alighted.
- Did not count # of pax along the way as I didn't intend to do loading analysis
Loading on Bukit Gombak - Joo Koon Service (SMB1324H) on 3 July (Sun), 6.53am
Bukit Gombak (6:53): 5
Bukit Batok (6:56): [-1+1] 5
Jurong East (7:06): [-4] 1 (Note that train operations had already started)
Chinese Garden (7:15): 1
Lakeside (7:19): 1
Boon Lay (7:25): [-1] 0
Pioneer (7:29): 0
Joo Koon (7:37): 0
- Buses were packed with workers at around 6.20am. The bendy that departed Bukit Gombak at 6.20 was already packed to the door when exiting Bt Batok, and the next bendy was also 70% packed when departing from Bt Gombak. After that loading drops sharply.
- Even though a few bendies were parked at Bukit Gombak, from 6.40 onwards it was mainly rigids doing the trip. Direction towards Bukit Gombak was full fleet SD during my period of observation.
- Interestingly there were a few SMRT staff at Bt Gombak arguing whether "short bus" or "long bus" should be deployed
SUNDAY Observations at Joo Koon Int (Departures only)
(7:52) 255 - (26~32)
(7:53) 253 - 27
(7:53) 182 - (95~100) + 14 pax could not board
(7:54) 257 - 43
(7:56) 257 - 67 (Typo - one of these two should be 254 although I cannot really remember which one it was)
(7:57) 99 - (10~20)
(7:59) 258 - 3
(8:01) 256 SD - 4
(8:02) 255 - 16

(8:14) 99 - 0
(8:14) 255 - 22
(8:16) 254 - 24
(8:17) 256 DD - 0
- JIS still have good demand on Sundays, probably because the workers in Jurong Industrial Estate are still working
- Rankings (including some departures that I didn't record): 182 > 257 > 253 >= 254 > 255 > 258 > 99 > 256
- Loading was already decreasing when I reached Joo Koon (except 182), so earlier loadings should be way better
- It seems that 254 has lost its high loading since shortened to Joo Koon. Previous bus also had few pax on upper deck
- 182 has the best loading yet the worst frequency during my period of observation. Think it deserves fleet additions. It also has high bidirectional loading (bus arrived at Joo Koon at 8.07am had 50 pax)
SUNDAY noon loading on 46 (SBS3788S) from Upper East Coast at 12.09pm
(12:09) Upp East Coast Ter - 0

(12:46) Tampines Int - [-65] 0
Sunday noon loading on 3 from Pasir Ris to Punggol East
(For fun only)
(13:44) Pasir Ris Dr 8 - [-1+3] 47, [-22+17] 42 (Pasir Ris MRT) (A lot of people are waiting at MRT bus stop but half of them were waiting for the IKEA shuttle)
(13:48) Pasir Ris Dr 1 - 42, [-5] 37 (opposite 53 with ~50 pax)
(13:50) Elias Rd - [-3] 34
(13:52) Pasir Ris St 71 - [-7+1] 28, [-4] 24
(13:53) Pasir Ris Dr 10 - 24

(14:05) Punggol Field - [-5] 22, [-4+1] 19, [-1] 18
Sunday afternoon loading on 386 (SBS6428L) from Punggol Field
(14:10) Punggol Field - [+10] 11
(14:11) Punggol East - [+3] 14
(14:13) Punggol Ctrl - 14
(14:14) Edgedale Plains - [-1] 13, [-2+2] 13
(14:21) Punggol Dr - [-2] 11
(14:23) Edgefield Plains - [-3+17] 25, [-3+2] 24
(14:27) Punggol Ctrl - [+7] 31, [-2+3] 32
(14:30) Punggol Temp Int - [-32] 0
- There are some old folks and families who take 386 after shopping at Punggol Plaza. But note that only 3 alighted at Edgefield Plains Waterway HDB, which kind of defeated the purpose of this extension IMO
- Main loading is still from Edgefield Plains to Punggol Temp Int/MRT
- Edgedale Plains still need to wait for more development

I'm really surprised on 257 loading between 7:50am to 8am, I was expecting about 60-80 during this timing on weekends, Svc 182 frequency is really terrible during weekends, during weekend nights, a queue can often be seen queueing for 182/M, maybe a fleet add of 1-2 buses (1 split and 1 PM) would help to improve the frequency of 182

Some pax (around 17) use it from Fengshan to Tampines West while majority travel from Tampines West to Tampines MRT- Buses leaving Tampines Int get around 10 pax (dedicated pax who were waiting at 46's queue all the way at the end of interchange)- Of course you may argue that 46 is useless if it happens to follow 291/293. I'm just here to post the numbers.
Svc 46 kinda reminds me of 258 for the Boon Lay - Street 81 sector where people would prefer the more frequent 243G towards Street 81 while 258 can get above 50 pax from Gek Poh to Boon Lay Int

Interesting to see the high loading on 182 and 257 on a Sunday. You cannot make any judgement on 254 loading based on Sunday loading observation.

Sorry everyone... Just realised I have made a typo. The 7:54 and 7:56 buses are not both 257. One of them seems to be 254 though I cannot really remember
257's loading at this time should be 60-70 pax I guess.
