Singaporeans have spoken!
Our new public bus livery will be lush green!
SINGAPORE: After a one-month public voting exercise by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), green instead of red has been picked as the bus livery for new public buses in Singapore.
LTA described the result as a "close call", with green edging out red by 144 votes. In total, 57,505 valid votes were cast.
The green buses are expected to be on the roads from the middle of this year.
LTA said the new unified colour is a major milestone in the transition to the Bus Contracting Model, where the Government will gradually own all public buses. It added that the colour will create a "unified and distinctive identity" for Singapore buses.
The chosen bus colour was unveiled by Senior Minister of State for Transport Ng Chee Meng on the sidelines of the inaugural Bus Carnival held on Friday (Mar 11).
At the carnival, the public will be able to give feedback on how the interior of the new buses should look like based on two new concept buses.
The new double-decker buses will have three doors and two staircases, with new features like USB charging ports and a Passenger Information Display that will give real-time information on the next bus-stop along its route.
this is very cool , usb charging port is a welcome

when I read the USB charging port part, I was like "what the fuck?".
I do not know where the electricity will come from. I guess it's from a battery box, otherwise it means there's solar panels on top of the bus generating electricity.
but, isn't it quite dangerous for the bus to have so much electricity?
Nice..Nice post......

Electricity isnt the problem.
I just doubt the need for it given most bus rides dont take all that long. Unless they are introducing more express routes?

I doubt you will ever take the full length...?
Will you take, say, 30 from Bedok all the way to WC? I doubt so...
The concept buses look as if they come from the 23rd century, one hundred years after Doraemon was created.
In other words, they look very futuristic.
Facebook page "Singapore Buses" has posted some pictures of the concept buses.
With regards to the signboard, I feel that green is not a good font colour. With a black background, orange/yellow/white as font colour is clearer.
With the legislature nearing, Surroundings, Master Triesman and Jacket take the number of SWTOR Credits globe cup professionals doubting criminal activity to 10, such as Warner, Teixeira and Bin Hammam, who withdraws his candidacy.
The FA avoid on a factor of concept (six several weeks after contacting Surroundings "an discomfort to the BBC") while Warner says the allegations created him "laugh like hell". Sepp, eliminated of counter-claims, disowns his professionals ("I did not select them"), and again claws the actual problem: "The English press have lengthy been very critical."
Congress ends. As associates compliment Sepp, Grondona says the English press were "more active relaxing than informing the truth". Then he goes home to competition case blaming him of "fraudulent economic interests". Sepp says that, after a tough few several weeks, it's a chance to shift on. www.vgolds.com

I used to take sv30 from end to end, esp when I end work late in NTU and the last eastbound train has departed. In the late night, sv30 can be pretty fast, sometimes taking less than 1 hour from Boon Lay to Bedok, thanks to lighter traffic and fewer stops.
Hmm.... "the new buses will have three doors and two staircases" Isn't it similar to the new Routemaster in London?

Similiar way but different length and seating/standing capacity.
Prolly feasible on Airport, express and premium Services and school services like 151 and 74?
i voted red leh
I voted for red... Anyways thanks to Mr Ng Chee Meng for taking Lush Green. Green livery I fine is ok just like in SBS3423U, SBS3461J, SBS3511Z, SBS6479P, SBS6499G, SBS6548Z, SMB3090E, SMB3528K, SMB3546H, and SMB3560R have, but red is nicer. Then too bad lor, no Bright Red for future SG bus...
I came across this article on The Straits Times website (In pictures: Hop on to Singapore's bus of the future) which I would like to share here. It is about the new features in future public buses in Singapore.
Here's the main gist of the article:
~ bus B ~
The view of the upper deck on Bus B.
The seats used by Bus B.
The staircase on Bus B features LED lights.
A screen showing information on the bus route and upcoming stops aboard Bus B.
USB charging ports on Bus B.
USB charging ports seen onboard Bus B. As you can see, it's a 5V supply, with the option of 1A (5W) and 2.1A (10.5W).
A sensor bus button on Bus B.
A designated area for prams and wheelchairs onboard Bus B.
Foldable chairs onboard Bus B, which can be locked and unlocked by the driver.
~ bus A ~
The upper deck of Bus A.
Priority seats onboard Bus A.
The new priority seats design on Bus A.
Visitors taking a look inside Bus A.
This looks like some tour bus in Malaysia :o
The article ("New double-decker buses to have two exits, two staircases"; 11 March 2016) by TODAY kinda summarises the new bus features.
Here is an extract of it:
The USB ports will be placed near the inner seats to encourage people to use those seats first, he said.
With a third door, what we hope is that people will be less averse to move to the (rear of the) buses and that also when they are alighting from the bus, there will be less conflict between them and those boarding the buses,” Mr Yeo said.
One of the prototype buses has a staircase leading to a dedicated second exit for upper deck passengers.
The other has an additional exit door at the rear of the bus, so those sitting at the back of the bus will not have to squeeze past other passengers to alight. The move to reduce dwell time at bus stops comes after the LTA announced other measures to speed up bus commuting.
Meanwhile, here are comments by some members of the public, quoted from the article ("It's a Lush Green makeover for new bus fleet"; 12 March 2016) by The Straits Times:
Touchscreen pads are set up next to two concept buses - one by Britain's Alexander Dennis (Bus A) and the other by Germany's Man (Bus B).
Bus A's third door is near its tail, while the one on Bus B is right next to its second door, with a partition.
Ms Carol Lim, 55, a special needs educator who was at the carnival yesterday, said she prefers Bus A, in which the second and third doors are farther apart. "I think that's better for the flow of people," she said.
Meanwhile, 42-year-old Patrick Ang, who is self-employed and a wheelchair user, felt Bus B is more accessible. "There is also more space for me inside," he said.
Bus A also got the vote of police national serviceman Cleon Bong, 21. "I like the separated doors. At the upper deck, everyone can exit from the back," he said.
Resort receptionist Ying Kit, 36, said: "If the door is behind, passengers have to walk all the way to the back. With Bus B, it's more centralised.
"This new bus reminds me of luxury coaches - that's a good thing."
Government Parliamentary Committee for Transport member and Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan said: "I like both."
He was among a VIP entourage led by Senior Minister of State for Transport Ng Chee Meng that witnessed the unveiling of the new bus colour as well as the two bus concepts yesterday.
Other visitors interviewed said the USB ports were "good to have", but unnecessary.
Preferred bright red but will have to go with lush green
Actually since voting difference was not too much, LTA should have both.
Fantastic. i already vote for Green
