Train services will be extended, with last trains from both bounds leaving City Hall at 1.30am.
Train services may be extended again on 23 December 2016 to 1.05am.
The operators will update it through Instagram.

The public transport operators, SBS and SMRT are unable to run 24 hours on 24/25 December due to the track maintenance and renewal works, as well as the drop of nightlife. Demand is still stolen by Uber, Grab and ComfortDelGro, many commuters would even want to use these apps.
Nite Owl and NightRider are extended on their joint news release under LTA to 6am instead of 4am in the morning.

The last time MRT ran 24 hours on Christmas Eve is on 2012 and 2013. After Little India riots, 24-hour MRT stopped on Christmas Eve.
All the while MRT ran 24 hours on New Year's Eve since 2007.

Today, they will definitely extend bus services like the state funeral of LKY. The last trains will leave City Hall at 1.05am.
Track maintenance, renewal and behaviour are the common reasons why they are not operating 24 hours.
Good behaviour - operate 24 hours. Night bus services can run until 2am.
Bad behaviour - do not operate 24 hours and instead extend it till 1.30am. There will be extension of Night bus services.
