Hi.
There are some bus models which I would really want to try before they retire, but have never tried before.
If you have tried the above bus models recently, do share with me the following details:
Thank You. :)

- - Dennis Trident
- - Dennis Lance
- - Mercedes-Benz O405 (Volgren)
- - Scania L94UB
- - Scania K310UD
- - Volvo B7RLE
If you have tried the above bus models recently, do share with me the following details:
- - Name of bus model.
- - Date, Day and Time you board the bus.
- - Location.
- - Bus Service Number.
Thank You. :)
You need:
1. Patience
2. Persistence
To catch these buses:
1. Dennis Trident and Volvo B7RLE - Jurong East Interchange peak hours
2. Dennis Lance - IKEA Tampines Shuttle
3. O405 (Volgren) - Bukit Batok Interchange peak hours
4. K310UD - Service 25
5. L94UB - Not possible. Possible substitute: Try the Original Sightseeing Tour (DUCK and HiPPO).
the scania K310UD (7888) is already missing from the roads for at least 2-3 months.. parking everyday inside AMDEP lay up corner..
很惜,有些款已了。:(
At least there are some old bus models still on the roads. :)
Although I stay in the wild West, I am okay with going to the far East and the North and the South to try out different models. After all, how big is Singapore? Travelling from West to East takes only around one hour, up to two hours. Besides, I have the hybrid concession pass (bus and trains) which enables unlimited travel, until 1 January 2016. :)
Anyway, thanks for the input so far. Looking forward to more input. :)
I may be travelling around Singapore soon, during my one month vacation. (But first, let me study... #MST)
Meanwhile, I hope that this thread can help re-ignite the passion on buses in the forum, which seems to have been extinguished after a while of spamming and going off-topic. :)
Hopefully, this would encourage people (especially newbies) to go around trying out the different bus models, and from there feel more passionate about buses. That's the other objective of this thread. :)
Have you try DAF SB220?
DM5000 sv51 has perm allocation
for trident can try svc 64 also..i see them quite often..
as for the volgren O405, i saw TIB958U on 67 yest ard 330pm at tamp int..
Hi.
I understand how it feels when bus models retire and you could no longer ride on them.
Rest assured. Thanks to technology, there are videos on the internet (eg. YouTube) which records rides on the bus models you mentioned, as well as a whole lot more bus models in the whole wide world.
Although it does not compensate for the vibrations and the actual experience of riding on the bus models, you can watch and listen to the bus models and the motor.
I hope this helps.

For Dennis Trident, Can try 51, 64, 74, 89, 163. The whole fleet of Dennis Lance belongs to HGDEP. So you will have a good chance at Hougang Int (51, 74, 89)
For Dennis Lance, IKEA shuttles use. Go a Weekend to Tampines IKEA and you probably can board them on any of the shuttle routes
For MBO405, Ther is TIB958U on 67 and TIB963D, TIB964B and TIB965Z on 106
Scania K310UD - only 7888 on Service 25
Volvo B7RLE - only 8030 Service 185
Scania L94UB - I think this bus only for training, parked at HGDEP usually
Apparently, SMRT Bus Service 172 has all the bus models used on SMRT bus services. Maybe except the MAN double-decker bus don't have only. Saw quite a number of old bus models on bus service 172...
Dennis Trident III
A unit of Dennis Trident III arrived at bus stop "DOVER STN" (19031) today at 9am. It was SBS9679J on bus service 74 towards Hougang Central Bus Interchange.
When this bus was at Clementi Road, I saw another unit of Dennis Trident III on bus service 74 on the opposite direction of Clementi Road towards Buona Vista Bus Terminal.

Didn't see 8030 on 185 for quite some time..

Route of 172 also renders it perfect for joyride, and esp for busboys to feel its performance and listen to its gearbox and transmission...

Yes. This is because bus 172 runs along Old Choa Chu Kang Road. That road is like those country-side roads in the USA, where there is little traffic and buildings, and trees. Although there are bus stops, there are few boarding and alighting activities. So, the bus is able to accelerate smoothly until a certain speed limit, and sometimes decelerate smoothly until zero.

Buses not only can hit full speed...
If you take the buses with voith transmission eg. Habit, A22 that stretch damn song... you can hear the whistle and the high pitch tune, when the bus goes into kickdown...
I know it is quite a waste of time to catch buses.
I would like to appeal to everyone to update this thread, as and when you board a bus that is NOT the common ones (Scania KUB single decker, MAN single decker, Volvo B9TL, ADL Enviro 500).
It should be coincidental that you happen to catch these buses. I do not want to waste your time.
As and when you happen to board a bus model that is unique, do update this thread with the following information:
- date.
- bus service number.
- bus license plate number.
- time when the bus is at a landmark (eg. MRT Station, Shopping Mall, Community Centre, etcetera.)
- name of landmark.
Likewise, when you happen to board a bus (any bus model) that has special interior design (e.g. interior filled with Hello Kitty wallpaper), do update this thread about which bus service it is on, what time it was near (or next to) a landmark and the name of the landmark.
After all, this thread was created with the objective of sharing details on where and when to catch buses. If details are updated here, it would make it easier for one to catch buses and try them out.
Thank you.

MAN DD did cameo a few times before.. though have no chance to board it. Most are cameos though, currently 172 has DAF, Habit, Enviro500, MAN A22 and OC as perm

Yes! Love it! So far i tried almost all models on 172 already except for MAN DDs... since there used to be Volgren and Citaro cameos, box bendy and smiley bendy.. and our dear O405 (both OAC and CAC)...haha! Would love to try on the MAN DD one day...
Recommended places to joyride Volvo Olympian B2&3 and DM3500? Thanks

DM and B2 can try 89. Loyang stretch can be quite fun. Fly stops along Changi also (before CAT).
If you dont wanna go too far, TPE stretch should do pretty okay also
If you are rly damn on, catch 89e with extended version of TPE. But beware of jams at Loyang.

Me too! It would be heaven and earth combined...

Hi mr SMB128B, lately jams at Loyang have disappeared. I also take sbs 89E frequently. Cheers. Thanks.
And Hgdep/Bbdep got a handful of VO batch 2/3 and DM3500 which can run on highways too.

if you know the slot or timing its not coincidental alr
Volvo B10TL
Was on board a Volvo B10TL today! :) It was SBS9839P on bus service 154. It left Lakeside MRT Station for Boon Lay Bus Interchange at 1:47pm.
personally, i feel that this Volvo B10TL is quite similar to the CNG bus (Volvo B10BLE). The door chime is the same. The seat design is the same. It feels like the big brother of the CNG bus. :)
