not punggol for sure, but im sure that i understand the need of bus services in punggol more than the route planners
Originally posted by dupdup77:All, latest round of BSEP for Q2 2016 is announced. Implementation date is 24 April 2016. Affected services are sbs 117 and sbs 386, both Punggol bus services.
1. Sbs 117 is amended to ply west camp road instead of seletar west link. This provides coverage to youth flying club and ST airport services.
2. Sbs 386 is extended further up to edgedale plains end, with the same type of loop at 2 bus stops (1 stop going to Punggol mrt, 1 stop to Punggol east). It will continue to loop at Punggol east/central (Blk 162B bus stop) and serve all other bus stops. This will benefit waterway view and sundew residents.
Cheers. Thanks.
So my friend... finally my route amendment on sv 386 came right, which you said was not possible!!
Logical amendments of both 117 and 386.

Hi mr busanalyser, half congrats as you expect it to skip the bus stop outside greendale primary school (edgedale plains). The edgefield plains end to Punggol field/east/central is an important link. Expect sbs 386 to have double decker buses at peak hours only very soon once the edgedale plains end (waterway sundew residents) are in. Crowds will come in real fast. Cheers. Thanks.

Never expected it to miss any stops. I just expected that 386 would do Punggol Dr >> Edgedale Plains (end) and then continue to Punggol Plaza and back to Edgedale Plains (end) >> Punggol Dr >> Edgefield Plains (end) before heading back to Punggol MRT.
Your response instead was that because of road structure, you expected the Waterway Sundew residents at Edgedale Plains (end) to walk all the way to Oasis/Kadaloor LRT on Punggol Dr which is so far away.

Hi mr busanalyser, that was because there is no space at Punggol interchange already and I had wanted a new feeder bus service to cover edgedale plains end instead of extending sbs 386.
In the much earlier discussion way before this proposal, you also proposed sbs 386 to miss out the bus stop outside greendale primary school and I also say LTA will not purposely build a bus stop and introduce sbs 386 the only bus and then take it out without any replacement. Remember? Cheers. Thanks.

Yes I do, but I had also proposed exactly the same option as current amendment. Remember? :))

By the way do you expect 386 to get DDs??
I hope they do... but not HGDEP style to deploy DDs on its feeders. Maybe Go Ahead will.
I do see that 386 may have DD worthy loading given that Edgefield Plains (end) gets around 40-45 pax. So Edgedale Plains (end) may also get about the same.
But again they can just do massive Citaro adding like 315.

To add on, with no disrespect to you, you also say in the beginning that the extension from edgefield plains end to Punggol plaza/field/east/central is not necessary as the loading does not justify it. It should have remained as Punggol int to edgefield plains end. Only I keep saying that the linkage is important as it provides a new direct link.
Now the authorities not only justify it by linking edgefield plains end to Punggol field/east/central loop, it double justifies it by linking edgedale plains end to Punggol field/east/central loop as well. It could well have totally removed this direct link this time round. However it did not. Well done to LTA. Make me so happy today. Cheers.

Hi mr busanalyser, yes you also proposed that. Congrats. You did it.

Hi mr busanalyser, yes sbs 386 will get DDs. I predict only for peak hours only. Cheers. Thanks.

Once implemented they cannot remove the link. There is also no denying of the fact that the loading remains dismissal between Edgefield Plains (end) and Punggol Plaza in the range of 10-15 pax at the most.
Now with Edgedale Plains (end) coming up, loading should improve a bit for Punggol Plaza and transfer to other trunk services.
I am just glad Edgedale Plains (end) got a bus service and there is connection for people and they dont need to walk 1 km to nearest LRT/bus stop

Hi mr busanalyser, yes sure get DDs. SDs cannot take in so many people. Now still got many flats at edgedale plains end coming up. Note these 2 edgefield and edgedale plains residents are frightening enough. I understand why LTA could not introduce a new service for each area. Cheers. Thanks.

What makes you so confident on DDs? I think it is the right thing to do but given that HGDEP has not introduced DDs on its other feeders such as 315, 371, 372... I am a bit skeptical if they will do on 386. But I hope they do.

Hi mr busanalyser, LTA definitely cannot remove link. Now doubly reinforced my point that this link is important. Now I think sbs 386 is unlikely to go and loop in Punggol east end once the HDB flats there are up. Or else it will be quite dramatic to do 3 loop in and loop out. Cheers. Thanks.
Can also launch 386A with DDs terminating at Edgedale Plains (end) during peak hours and morning downroutes from Edgedale Plains (end) to Punggol Interchange.
Recommended fleet: 4 SDs do whole route, 2 DDs do downroutes/386A.

Hi mr busanalyser, both edgefield plains end and edgedale plains end residents only have this one and only one bus service sbs 386. That is why I am confident. Cheers. Thanks.

Punggol East (end) is in Q4 2017. Still a long time to go. By then you never know there may be more expansion along Punggol East (end) that may justify a dedicated service for it.

Hi mr busanalyser, anything is possible. However I still do not like the concept of having a supplementary service A for a feeder bus service. This idea of an A for feeder suggests the route is not well planned. I understand the rationale of A for trunk service but if you ask me, I don't really accept A for feeder. Cheers. Thanks.
Similarly in future I think 382G/W will be edited to ply Sumang Lane for Matilda Edge and Matilda Court HDB. I doubt there will be a new service, but since 382G/W is bi-directional, may have it do 2 extra stops inside Matilda estate.

Hi mr busanalyser, by Q1 2017, there will be 5 more slots for 5 new services for expanded interchange. Don't really want so many feeders. Cheers. Thanks.

True but you do have 240A, 241A, 811A etc.

Hi mr busanalyser, that is ok. As long as not getting sbs 386 to do sumang side like what some forumers here wanted as an inter town link. This will be very dramatic for sbs 386. Let sbs 382G/W do west side and 386 do east side. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr busanalyser, yes I know but I am really not in favour of A for feeder services. This is my frank opinion. It indicates that the route has scope to be further fine tuned. Cheers. Thanks.
