Originally posted by SBS6465E:Again a new set of rumours, and I'm quite suprised they'd touch 13 because it remains the only unique connection between Marine Terrace and Geylang Serai/Geylang/Lavender St. There are several possibilities.
1. Truncating 13 at Sims Pl, and introducing a new Sims Pl <> Upp East Coast Rd service covering the old route. This would eliminate a connection between Lavender St/Marine Parade but it would open up more connections for the Sims Pl/Dr area. Though this would buck the rumours that have been circulating about a Eunos-MP service.
2. Amending 13 such that it plied Still Rd > East Coast Rd > Upp East Coast Rd. 13 is quite duplicative of 16, 43 and 48. Plying East Coast Rd improves MRT access which is very poor for this section of East Coast Rd (between Telok Kurau Rd & Siglap Rd). The only viable connection currently provided is to Eunos/Paya Lebar MRT through 155, which 13 would enhance. But this is far from ideal as Eunos can only be served in one-direction and is not the nearest MRT station, unlike Kembangan. It is sad that Kembangan can only be accessed by 32 indirectly and amending 42 is very difficult. Don't even mention Bedok MRT because it is really a huge back-track for most commuters who originate from the City.
Then M4 is reinstated as a Eunos> Sims Av > Still Rd > Still Rd South > Marine Parade Rd > Marine Cres/Terr loop service to make Eunos MRT access two-way and more reliable.
3. 13 is truncated at Eunos and a new service is introduced covering the deleted sector. However, I am skeptical as this would invariably make Geylang Serai less accessible. Even though Eunos Int is within walking distance, for many elderly who patronise Geylang Serai market, it can be an added hassle.
Anyways, a new route is introduced linking Eunos > Upp East Coast Rd though possibly this too could be amended to link Upp East Coast > Bedok South Av 1 > New Upp Changi Rd > Chai Chee Dr > Chai Chee St (loop).
Service 13 if terminate back at Eunos Interchange also is fine.. Just intro new service to Upp East Coast - Eunos...

Yeah second that,Back to the old days.New service 44 from Upp East Coast looping at Eunos.

Both 13 and 76 are doing okay. Really no need to introduce another service at Marine Parade, that too when 47 has just been introduced.
Maybe sv13 will loop at marine terrace.... while sv47 extend to Eunos...

Hmmm... If no need to intro, then what about I suggest this;
Svc 13 - Terminate at Eunos Int
Svc 76 - Normal Route
Svc 853 - Full Day route to Upp East Coast Road Terminal (This gives access to passengers travelling to Upp East Coast if Svc 13 terminates back to Eunos Int)
I would still think a new service would be introduce to cover the deleted section of Svc 13 if the service decides to terminate at Eunos... U mention abt Svc 47, but the service covers different part of the route after Marine Parade Rd/Siglap Rd Junction.

It's a good suggestion but sv 13 route will become too long... and cause irregular schedules... same reason why they are thinking of breaking sv 76... i don't think they will add one more service to the list.

why break service 13 in first place, if sv 853 has to be extended? Just let it be IMO.
Proposal: sv 46
Changi Business Park Terminal >> Changi Business Park Central >> Changi South Ave 2 >> Changi South Ave 1 >> Xilin Ave >> Upp Changi >> Tanah Merah MRT >> Bedok North Ave 3 >> Bedok North St 1 >> Bedok North Ave 2 >> Bedok North St 3 >> Bedok North Ave 1 >> Bedok North Road >> Eunos Link >> Still Road >> Still Road South >> Marine Crescent >> Marine Terrace (loop) >> Marine Parade Road >> Still Road South... and continues back to CBP Terminal
* Connects Marine Terrace/Crescent to Eunos MRT (faster MRT access on way to CBP)
* Connects Bedok North Town that solely relies on feeder service to both Eunos/Tanah Merah MRT
* Connects Bedok North Town to Changi Business Park
* Provides alternate connection to Tanah Merah MRT for Changi Business Park employees (apart from sv 47)
Alternative:
sv 46 starts from Upper East Coast Terminal, while sv 45 is routed to CBP Terminal (my personal preference as 45 also connects Eunos, Lor Ah Soo, Serangoon)

Agree, splitting them at Eunos and introducing new services would be a waste to the area. I agree that Marine Parade/Bedok have a ton of services but the sheer amount of duplication in the area is a problem. It is a product of history in being one of the older population centers. There are too many east-west connections to the city which is a leftover of old pan-island routes that were necessary prior to the introduction of the MRT. Just look at all the services that duplicate each other and EWL along Changi Rd. While they may provide unique connections to the city and western areas, these destinations should be reached by MRT and not long-winded bus routes, plus their traveling distances can really affect reliability. The east coast is ultimately lacking in north-south intra-town connections that link school/shopping clusters with neighbouring housing estates, and has a suboptimal MRT feeder system where connections are too skewed to Paya Lebar and Bedok. I hope this will change with the TEL and more emphasis is placed on MRT access and intra-town connectivity rather than connectivity into the city. Many routes will be obsolete with the introduction of TEL and I hope we don't end up with a situation similar to Changi Rd.
13 is another classic example of the area's sheer amount of duplication. It duplicates 16, 43 and 48 in connecting UEC with Marine Parade. As such, buses often run very empty. So, I see no harm in eliminating this sector. It presents an opportunity to re-allocate resources to serve new connections.
I suggest amending 13 such that it plied
Sims Av East > Chai Chee St > Bedok North St 1 > Bedok North Av 3 > New Upp Changi Rd > Bedok South Av 3 > Upp East Coast Rd.
This new sector is about 7.8km which is slightly shorter than the deleted sector from Eunos. It will benefit:
1. Chai Chee residents traveling going to Geylang Serai and provides a new connection to Kembangan MRT
2. New connection between Bedok South & Bedok North other than 506 which charges higher fares and is infrequent.
3. East Coast GRC =)
68 (Eunos <> Jln Kembangan loop)
Sims Av > Still Rd > Still Rd South > Marine Parade Rd > Marine Cres > Marine Parade Rd > Siglap Rd > East Coast Rd > Frankel Av > Jln Kembangan > (Same route) > Marine Terrace > Marine Cres > (same route back to Eunos Int)
1. Two-way connection to Eunos from Marine Terrace/Marine Cres, plus new intra-town connection to Kembangan/Frankel/Changi Rd area.
2. Connection to Geylang Serai market is still provided, albeit on the way back, one must walk to Eunos Int (might be an added hassle for elderly). City Plaza connection already provided via 43, 76, 135 & 197.
3. Lost connection to Geylang Redlight district but can still be accessed via 197 from Guillemard Rd.
Alternatively, this service could ply Siglap Rd > Chai Chee St > Chai Chee Dr > New Upp Changi Rd > Siglap Rd. However, as my proposed 13 amendment already serves Chai Chee plus Kembangan having poorer connections, this above proposal may not be fair to introduce at the same time.

Hmmm...
So earlier, rumours has it that Svc 76 was to terminate at Eunos... Following that publictransportsg.wordpress.com states that there will be amendment to Svc 13...
Now is a new service bet Sims Place & Marine Terrace... So which of the two will terminate at Eunos Interchange? If from Sims Place, if they follow the route carefully, it would be parallel to Svc 13... Unless they go through Paya Lebar Rd from Geylang East Central, then it would be Svc 76.
However, I think I cannot see from that point of view right?
Maybe 76 commuters can transfer at Paya Lebar MRT for 134 towards Marine Terr
Then 68 go where to where?68 loop at Kembangan?42 from Upp East Coast loop at Frankel?

Yay, Sims Pl/Dr has a new service linking it to Paya Lebar & Marine Parade. Good move by LTA. Similar to my 126, except mine extends to Eunos from Marine Cres to become a bi-directional Sims Pl - Eunos service via Marine Parade. But Geylang East Central?? Hmmm, a bit sad coz then it won't serve Aljunied MRT.
Sims Pl/Dr - Geylang East Ctrl - Paya Lebar Rd - Tanjong Katong Rd - Amber Rd - Marine Parade Rd - Marine Cres/Terr (loop)
If this is the case, they may amend 76 to ply East Coast Rd then up to Eunos instead. Or they may truncate it and follow 24, 28, 154 and 155 to Eunos, though it would be a bit sad. 13, I doubt so because it covers Geylang Serai which 134 will not.
As for a 2-way connection to Aljunied MRT and Geylang, 140 is the best candidate for an extension from Lor 1 Geylang. After all, it is simply a re-instatement of the old 20.
Now that Sims Pl/Geylang East Central have a MP connection, it is more than plausible that Kembangan/Chai Chee or even Bedok North can be considered for an MP connection. It would be a god-send for many.
Introducing a new service n cutting short of an existing service is suicidal even though it has been done, 189
If it is to fill quarterly KPI numbers, its ridiculous...
existing 853 is there, extend to UEC full day instead of weekends and re route via Geylang East Central...
76 to loop at M Terrace was pushed hard by M Parade GRO(reported in ST) n also to save buses as 43,135 pass by Siglap Rd Area
68 is new service, route unknown, under Go Ahead package...
Kembangan MP connection was approved by PTC years back, sv 41 but not implemented, its discussed in the forum
Originally posted by lemon1974:as for sv76, they could jolly well add 2-3 buses and let the buses have a 5-10 min break at the last bus stop at marine terrace instead of splitting into 76/68...
or do as 195B style....terminate at last bus stop as 76A, break, then off service and restart journey from the 1st bus stop at marine terrace or marine cres as 76.....
Written in, LTA shoot to SBST, as usual no reply
But noticed sv76 BCs do take a short toilet break
