Wah this LTA simi 世界 sia, alr project 6.9 still hv the audacity to use FOUR CAR TRAINS to ply like more than a dozen different neghbourhoods...
Mark my words, one day TEL's gonna meet the same fate as 190, heavy criticisms from East Coast residents...
Operators already made mistakes with purchases of so many SDs
when population expected to rise to "fill the gap"(another story)... Planning is poor with no provision of longer platform, in e end, if any upgrading works to extend is paid by taxpayers...
HK, has provision for 8 cars(currently 7) for purple line... When Hung Shui Kiu is up, add one car...
Myopic as usual...
Well, commuters will still use 14,16,36 to get to Orchard (even though hardly any SGreans shop there anymore) with suburban malls n online shopping
Betcha M Parade GRC incumbents will highlight "we lobbied hard" for TEL to come to M Parade...
Anyone replying, please dun quote LTA said WDL to M Parade v fast by train, faster than bus... Please, 966 is as direct compared big loop to city using TEL...

You can suggest to LTA
Implementation would be another thing, if it does come true, "GROs n MPs lobbied n worked hard for it" as the same wording is rehashed during most official press releases on bus service enhancements/improvements.
Since 53 is Airport Bound, why didn't they modify the Airport to be DD-capable? The never ending Rigid spamming on svc 27, 36, 53 and 858 is getting worse.

They have too many SDs that they ordered... Hence, all feeder services also getting spammed with more buses... can ever see 3 buses of the same number coming together these days.. it is like it just doesnt cost anything anymore to add one more bus to feeder... and most of them get it in doubles..

no issue with the SD for SBST.. they have been ordering a lot of DDs.. it is LTA who order the additional 1000 BSEP buses which is causing the problem.. 550 buses should be more than enough... not sure why they want to order another 450 more...
Of course its politics/pressure groups/lobbying. Why do you think the motto reads "more buses, better rides" and banners of new services/service enhancements with smiling MPs put up at several neighborhoods?
Remember, BSEP was the consequence of Singapore's political environment since GE 2011.
Just from observing social media alone - if we were to have a new transport minister after this upcoming GE, pressure groups will be the first in line to advocate for "better buses, more rides".
Perhaps a new shiny coat of paint for Singapore's buses in the future, but little will change overall. Who knows the bus industry might be headed for a trainwreck scenario, not too far from the major MRT disruptions.
